Why Not Blu?

I have been browsing these forums for a few weeks now, and haven't bought an e-cig just yet. I can't decide which to get. I've seen that the Joye 510 and the Kr8 are popular choices, but the one I keep looking at is the Blu, for a few reasons.

First, the Blu has a pack. The pack holds five cartridges and recharges your battery on the go. Since I'm gone about 11 hours a day, and smoke like a chimney while I'm away from home, I'm going to need something that will last.

Second, the Blu has disposable cartridges. I never remember to fill my Zippo, and end up having to bum a light about once a week. If I forget to fill my e-cig, I'm stuck at work with no fix. The Blu has room for five spares, so if I run out of one, I have backups.

Third, the Blue has easily swapped disposable atomizers. I know damned well I'm going to blow one out at 10 in the morning when I have eight hours left to go before I can get home. At $5 each, I could destroy three a week and still be ahead of what I'm spending on Winstons.

Fourth, it looks like both the Joye 510 and the Kr8 have buttons to activate them, and without a case, I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up pushing that button with the side of my cell phone and burning out the whole thing. No button on the Blu, and even if there was, it's stored in a pack all day.

Now, I haven't tried a Blu, and have no idea if there's a good hit or if it tastes like .... I can see tons of positive reviews for the Kr8 and the Joye 510, and I know where I can save a few bucks on the Joye. I don't want to drop the 60 clams on the Blu and then end up just going back to buy a Joye 510 anyway.

Can anyone tell me why Blu is way worse than Joye 510 or Kr8? Mostly I just want to know if the concerns I have, and my reasons for wanting the Blu, are justifiable or complete bunk.

One atty, price $9.95, attys currently on back order, allow 3 weeks
One Batt, price $9.95
25-count flavor cartridges $25.00

Just quickly glancing, I'd say probably the fact that "each battery will last @ 2 carts" makes me think the battery doesn't hold a charge that long, the unavailability of attys, and the 'flavor cartridges'. One way to get around that I suppose is to figure out how to fill your own cartridges. The fact that a cart will last '@100 puffs' is a statement I've found not worth the price of baloney.

I like my Blu. The batteries don't last long but they charge fast. I thought I ruined my atomizers but I washed them and blew them out and now they're good as new. I can refill the cartridges too if I want.

There is always a little juice left in the cart so I pull out the filler and drop it into an oral syringe. When it gets about half full, I squeeze the leftover juice into a bottle. (don't like to see good things go to waste.) lol

What I don't like: You are gonna wait 8 days or more for your order. Those little foil covers on the inside cartridge don't break open like they should. I push them out with a safety pin or bent paper clip and pierce the foil. Then I pull off as much as I can before I use one.

Me personally.. I like the blu/Volcano They're the same thing just different branding. I've not had an issue with producing vapor though you get the best vapor when you direct drip on the blu.. Even though with an Auto battery it's not recommended. You have to be careful doing that. Though.. I think I got off to a bad start with my venture into 510 territory.. I've had super bad luck with Atties with them. But I've been able to get just as much vapor and TH on my Blu as I have been with the 510.. easy. You just.. have to get the knack for the right way to draw on the blu. I've had /killer/ TH on the Blu, personally. But.. as is always the case YMMV. It's all about what's right for you. You /can/ get PCC (the charging cases) for 510 batteries. The thing to remember about the Auto batteries.. like the blu has and most other auto batts is that yes they're activated when you draw on it.. But.. they're also impact, vibration, movement activated and sound activated. So.. .

I purchased a blu my first ecig.. It was a mistake... pretty box and all... Used it for a week.. Then purchased a 510 with 10 mega batteries 10 atomizers and 6 bottles of juice.. Never looked back since.. Now my blue is sitting in a box. Ill probally never use it again because there is no compairison to the 510..

510 = Camaro SS
Blu = Old VW bus.

Good Luck with your decision. :vapor:

Jason I love your review... you are too nice. LOL

I didn't like the idea of a manual button, either, until the vibration in my car had three of them lighting up and turning blistering hot. I ordered manual batteries that same day and have never set one off accidentally that I know of, even when I stick one in my pants pocket.

Blu was too cute not to try but mine started failing after a few days so I had to switch to another model since I'd already quit analogs and didn't want to go back to smoking.

I would go through about three carts/day (they're really small) but if you keep a contact lens case handy with juice in it you can take off the tip and dip the mesh directly into the juice--works great and will get you by if you run out of carts.

I'm 35 days smoke free, and still love my Blu.
And I've tried a 510 (disposable 510B from litecigusa).
I've asked a few times, and since no one has answered one way or another, I'm pretty sure the 510B disposable produces the same vapor quality/volume as an actual 510.
So I tried the 2 side by side and saw no difference in vapor.

Now, yes the Blu has shortfalls with battery life and cart life. But that's to be expected because it's so small.
The PCC makes up for the battery life.

Now, Blu is the same as Volcano. Exact same thing with different brand name.
But the Atomizer on the Volcano is a little different, the bridge/wick stands up taller and goes into the cartridge further. So it wicks better, and seems to have better vapor and TH.

And also the Sidesho (modernvapor.com) is somewhat compatible too. You can use Sidesho batteries on the Blu/Volcano. And the battery is larger and lasts significantly longer. And they have a manual battery as well.

Don't bother with Blu prefilled carts, that will be too expensive.
Get some juice and start refilling your carts.
Check out the PTB mod, this works great for me.

Here's my setup.
Blu PCC
2 Blu Batts
2 Volcano Batts
2 Blu Atomizers
2 Volcano Atomizers
About 25 Blu Carts that I refill with the PTB mod.
1 Sidesho battery (plan to get more, including manual)

I prefil 6 carts, put one on a Blue or Volcano Atty and Blu or Volcano Battery.
That goes in the PCC, along with another Blu or Volcano Battery.
This is one advantage Blu has on almost all other Ecigs, you can store a fully assembled Ecig in the PCC. Can't do that with a 510.

I also cary an altoids tin with 2 10ML bottles of juice, a sidesho Battery and a Spare atomizer.

I'm good to go for the day.
I may end up refilling a cart twice, so I've gone through 8 carts in a day.
Recharge my PCC overnight.

So basically, nothing wrong with Blu

My Blucig review :)

Well, you sold me. :) The number of times you said something to the effect of, "Meh...you know...it's not the best," pretty much made sure I'll never get that product.

That said, I think I may already HAVE that product. The construction, the atty, and the compatibility with the 510 threading makes me wonder if it's just a Joye306 in sexy clothing.

Exactly how many manufacturers are there? There are tons of companies that appear to just place their own branding on what seems to be only a small handful of truly different devices.

When you go to the Joye website, they ask how many crates you want. Are they the true wholesaler and the rest of these guys are just slapping on a logo and some neat features?

What a curious and interesting (and satisfying) industry I've been uncovering these past few weeks!

Well, there's only one JOYE out there, so it's branded out, I ASSUME..;)

If you want to give a good little PV a try, go to cignot.com and order a 510 kit. If you can swing it, go directly for the Ego, you can also buy those from cignot. Their prices are good and I hear their service is lightning fast.

The cart holds like 3 or 4 drops.
3 or 4 drops?? Really??
It's exagerrations like this that give Blu a bad name.

If you don't like Blu, that's fine and I respect your opinion.
But come on, be honest with your opinion.

I get 10 drops easily, and I have actually counted.

Sure, drops are differrent in each bottle type, but not that much.
I'm using 10ml bottle from litecigusa

Its not the same as a 306, I have a blu and bought a 306 atty for it and turned the blu from inconsistent into a vaping beast. However I still wasn't totally satisfied and it was too late to return the blu and I got myself a 510. If I was to start over I would've started with a KR808. IF the pretty package and pretty case were important to me, I would've went with a volcano magma or a revolver gemini. Alt5hought the revolver elite looks good too for a super mini.

got to disagree...she's right it's 2-3.
actually I'm pretty sure it's physically impossible to get 10 into the little cup.

Eh look if you want to buy it go for it...they do honor their return policy(ironically its the only thing they are quick about to) Gives you 30 days to see for yourself.
Personally I couldnt get over the batteries only last 15 mins or so.

no they changed the inside, it's longer than it used to be.so you get more than 3-4 drops. closer to 8-10 drops. And batteries last closer to an hour. and yes thats constant vaping.

I was an occasional smoke to start. I went for the blu because of the charger case and style. I liked it pretty well from the start but found it much improved after refilling the carts with Tasty Vapor juices and changing wicking material. I have since bought enough atomizers to cap all the carts in the case and just bought a USB passthrough from volcanoecigs for long car rides and sits at the computer. I'm pretty happy with it so far
