This may be one of the worst questions ever asked, but you hear so much about 'drink water while vaping', 'be sure to drink plenty of water if you vape'... what am I missing? I, admittedly, don't drink enough water. But I have a couple flavors that just taste fantastic with certain sodas. So is this water just for taste purposes or what? Someone fill me in please

Two different kinds of water, plain and coffee.

When I started vaping I used high PG 50:50 juice and I swear I couldn't get enough plain. I was dry all the time.

Since I've switched to normal high VG juice I'm back to normal water intake and my mouth doesn't feel like the desert all the time. All water is again coffee flavored which is how God intended water to be.

Both PG and VG are hygroscopic; they grab moisture from your mouth and throat in order to make visible vapor, and they will both dehydrate you, you just may not feel it as much with VG, due to its emollient properties.

Plain water is great, but any beverage without caffeine or alcohol will also work just fine. Alcohol displaces water, and thus causes dehydration on it own. Caffeine stimulates the kidneys and thus can cause dehydration from too much urination. I've found that daily coconut water helps me a great deal; not only is it excellent just for hydration, it's also high in potassium which helps counter the high-sodium diets most of us consume, and keeps the electrolytes balanced. {ETA: sports drinks are useless unless you're actually sweating a WHOLE lot, because they're far higher in sodium than potassium}

I am sorry, but that ^^^ is wrong.
VG creates visible vapor, not water (water is irrelevant here). When rewicking, do you try your new saturated wick? It creates vapor without any water.

I use very little VG (15%) but still have vapor. The PG and VG cause the effect, but there is more vapor exhaled than could be explained solely by the PG/VG -- some of it comes from the inside of the mouth and throat.

Well, there's some reason why vaping gives you a dry mouth. If the PG/VG isn't grabbing some moisture, then why does the mouth get so dry? I didn't say that ALL the exhaled vapor is moisture from the mouth/throat -- but SOME of it is, enough to notice a dry mouth. If you use high VG, you won't notice it so much, because of VG's emollient effect, but it's still happening.

I wasn't arguing. Just saying that I haven't noticed any differencein vapor or dry mouth. But with the frequency I've read 'drink, drink, drink' I was wondering if I've missed something. My mouth is always dry. That's why I always have a drink in my hand or very close. Since elementary school. I'd keep a drink in my bag and sneak it in class. So, that could contribute to why I havent noticed also.

I think most people born after 1985 in the US suffer from dry mouth; that's why you see people walking around with water bottles. Even people just going shopping for cereal at the Walmart take a bottle of water in with them. My theory is it is the plastics used in water bottles and chemical leaching which causes dry mouth...

if you use a dripper and expose your coil and fire it, you can notice the difference when you blow on the coil as opposed to just firing it without blowing.
