I finally got a coil working, mostly even heating... not perfect but way better than anything I'd used so far. I got excited, I filled it with juice, slapped a drip or two on the coil/mesh itself and gave it a few test puffs.

Tasted like burnt pennies.

Figured "oh, it's just breaking in"

Keep puffing and blowing it out, let it cool off, do it again... still tastes like crap. acrid and nasty. Plenty of vapor... just nasty.

My dud hates me.

I had the same results for 3 weeks with 34ga NiCr wire and too thick wick. I switched to 30ga Nicr and 2x5cm mesh for the wick and I am totally enjoying my atomizer now.

did you run a lighter over the wire before wrapping it?
try boiling the whole atomizer before your next build

I oxidized the wick per normal scorch and quench method then wrapped the coil and scorched and quenched it again to set the coil on the wick. It's the first time I didn't get shorts/hotspots but it tasted like poo.

I am using a pretty thin wire, 36g nichrome. I'm gonna order some thick kanthal to try it out.

oh trust me... I've read. I've tried a number of things, not many worked. I finally got a lack of hotspots, this issue is stank taste not hotspots.

Im guessing the DuD uses a SS wick? Have you tried a cheese cloth wick? It tastes almost as good and a heck of a lot easier to set up.
