28 AWG, 1 ohm wrap, 4V mechanical setup, #400 mesh rolled tight as tight can be with only a tiny hole. (short wick, but will make a longer one to see if there is any difference in performance) Running it at around 16 watts!! wicking without any issues (video =30 seconds pressing the button without any coil glowing!!!), great vapor and flavor!! Next to try will be the #500. I use max 30VG.

vid is on the Cobra, I also have it on a hellfire Mini and it is performing stellar also :vapor:

Emonty, how do you feel about the Cobra in comparison to other Genisis atties you have/do own?

The Cobra is right there on the top with others. Each has it's own characteristics, one is not better then the other, different I would say....It all comes down to finding the right wick/coil setup and each gennie has it's own way....It sometimes takes time to figure out the best way and to get the best performance.

Great thread, many useful ideas here. I've only tried dry burning and soaking the wick in e liquid to burn out. This seems to work fine but sometimes get shorts at the top of the Did. One thing I noticed that helps with shorts is by wrapping the coil 1-2 extra turns at the top in between the brass nuts. This makes a tighter connection and helps bring the wick closer to the top of the positive post.

So goodbye The Vaper hello orion V1 and more Chinese genys than I can comfortably admit too. Suffice to say have 2 DiDalikes at the moment but have a few more coming

Have swapped everything apart from.the HellFire Mini over to 28 AWG and am rather happy so far with the swap.

28 just seems to be so much more robust a grade. Running 1 Ohm wraps using 4.8 battery's is an experience. Have also migrated to 500 mesh and that seems to be wicking well. Still early days and a lot more playing to be done.

Want to experiment with wick wall thickness. Can't help but feel if the wick is wicking sufficiently well that a thinner walled wick will heat up faster letting the coil vaporise the juice faster.

Or is it that a thicker wick wall is holding more liquid to be vaporised?

Not sure but want to find out.

Damn and blast you good sir lol

Just spent the morning reading that thread. All 40 odd pages of it. Had only skip read it before.

Coming towards the end curiosity got the best of me and as I had a few 55mm 400 mesh wicks pre made got one and started rolling it like a maniac. After a good while managed to get it to fit the HellFire Mini and with a 1 Ohm coil using 28 AWG....rather good lol

Seriously folks take the time to read that thread in it's entirety if you use genisis devices.

It will illuminate a few areas that you hadn't considered before.

I was hoping someone could help. I recently bought the Vision rebuildable atomizer. I picked up some kanthal wire and silica wick, will be picking up some cotton wick shortly.

I am confused on the silica wick, as it is not tightly wound and is more "fluffy." I picked it up from Mountain Oak Vapors, and it is not the CE2 style which is more tightly wound. When I looked on line to try and find videos I always see tightly wound silica wicks. I can pull them apart so they are not as thick, but they are still "fluffy." Is this something I need to roll between my hands to make tighter? Sorry I know the above isn't described well but I am not sure how else to put it.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

The problem w/ some Genisis atty's is the top cap chamber is too big. You may not get the warm vapor you crave but you can try other kanthal gauges, braided coils, etc. That's the reason I sold my ZAP; the top cap was too roomy, and no coil or voltage setting could match my (small chambered) Orion. I'll have my NGP soon as it landed Saturday, but may sell it for the same reason. We'll see.
