There is no standard for how long a coil lasts... it all depends on juice, abuse and mileage... Im lucky if I get 3 days from a coil but I also vape dark juices, dual coils @ 4.2v all day every day on average 7 to 10ml of juice depending on the day... not to mention each coil I make performs slightly different than the last... so really it all comes down to personal useage and habbits and really what you prefer... If I had my way I would make a new coil everytime I refilled my tank but time doesnt always allow me to do that and at an average of about $0.20 cents to make a new coil its so worth it for that fresh coil throat hit...

I had a feeling it was subjective based on vaping habits... I guess I'll just have to feel it out as I keep using it. I did notice though that my wick was rather dark when I went to adjust the center post yesterday. I havent been using liquids that a dark so I hope I didnt burn it... Been getting a nasty taste since my last refill, even when juice control is open a few turns.

if you have a VV device or have a device that you can stack batterys your coils will last a looooong time :) just need to up the voltage if you feel the vapor is slacking.

For the wick just rinse with hot water and dry burn.

Hey Roxxette,
Do you take the coil off you device when rinsing?

Thanks,

Chris

I don't take the coil off, just rinse the whole bottom assembly with body, mouthpiece and caps off it. Then blot the wick dry a bit and "wet-burn" it until coil glowing well again.
This will produce a good amount of ash and nastiness, so do the whole procedure one more time and it should be good to go.
You can let the wick dry completely then, but I just fill it up and start vaping again right away. A few blank hits at first, then it gets great again.
The wick will not burn during this procedure, but the juice gunk that has burnt into it over time will mostly burn off, leaving it a whitish shade again and renewed wicking capibilities.

This silica wick can handle very high temps, I make mine glow with a butane torch before installing it to remove any possible factory residue
and sometimes when cleaning if it looks in good shape, if i have time to take it apart.. Just brings it back to almost the original white.
All the cleaning and dryburning will fray the wick some over time though, but the 3mm stuff should last longer I would think.

A good way to clean the coil is to expose the ceramic housing by unscrewing the tank off, rinsing in hot water and gently brushing the coils with a toothbrush. This removes alot of the carbon from the coil. I use my wife's toothbrush for this, 30 years of torture you know,,,I can get an extra 3 or 4 days from a coil, sometimes more depending on juice. A quick dryburn brings it back to life
