I am still working on getting this perfect. I dunno if I have vaped so much I burned out my tastebuds (doubtful as my cartos still taste fine) but I am getting tasteless vapor more or less. It works awesome and hits hard but almost no taste with a tiny wick or medium or even bigger. Picked up some 100% cotton (Non mercerized) yarn today gonna give that a whirl and seewhat kind of results I get.

Question to everyone. With the boiling process.... Can I just do a whole bunch and then put what I don't use in a ziplock for later?

I did up a vivi with 2mm silica with the cotton wrapped just around the 2mm Silica at the coil, so the silica wicks up the liquid in the tank to the silica/cotton coil and it works very well.
The best setup I had was just laying a cotton wick above the original silica wick and coil but considering that this thread was about getting away from silica, fiber glass, ss, I have been using only cotton on my vivi.

Thanks for the guava tip...

Cotton Yarn or Gauze or Cheese Cloth? How's the taste?

What do you mean "Over the Coil" is that not though it? Is it the "Taco" mod lol?

Yep. everything else original just laid across the coil in the grooves and down the sides.
Still have one vivi like this and it is the best so far, every three tanks I take out the cotton wick and wash it (has never burned) and with the cotton wick off I dry burn the coil and silica original until it is clean and reassemble the cotton. Works great.

Ok so let me get this right here and see if I am getting this. Basically you have the original head with silica going though the coils and normal. Then you take some cotton and and snake it in between the coils? (If this is right how is there room to do that?!) Won't this choke the coil?!

Nothing going thru or around just laying on top of the coil.
You can see the original wick under the cotton wick.

Hmm this could be interesting. I think I have 2 original Heads left may try this one of them. No issues with flooding or choking? did you bore out the bottom at all?
Everything original except I cut tiny triangles in the silicone cup to make room for the cotton wick.

2.4 ohms, 4.2 v my sweetspot and never a dry hot.

This seems pretty interesting. I'd be worried about flooding but besides that if it works not a bad idea.
No flooding. IME I have never had a tank under flood thru wicking and all overhead tanks flood especially in my profession as a pilot with changing cabin pressure. If you cut the holes in the silicone too large it may flood but that is not from wicking (capillary action).
