Meat, I am curious how you did that. Did you wrap the mesh in a tube shape and thread the bamboo through after oxidization?-Sam
I roll it then torch it, then unroll it and wrap it around the bamboo. It will short in a few spots but just move the coil around until it stops. Once it goes through a few ml of juice, the whole thing will be oxidized really well.

Nice thing is Closed coil heating element (CCHE).

CCHE is made of needle from siringe (stainless steel) Ideal heating element for organics. The only thing I don't like - it's about 30 min to make one. But one CCHE can work for a month or even more just changing wicks. Depends on how accurate you replace the wick, the weak plase is nichrome tails (at zero mark on the second foto).

Here is the link to russian thread. If you are interested in how to make this I will tell in more detail (after 10 of may).

Evilgrym, from what I understand, its pigtail coil with 2 nichrome wires, put inside a stainless steel syringe (oxidized so it doesnt short), then bend the syringe with the coil inside, coil heats up > heats stainless steel of syringe, the heating coil never touches the wick, only syringe, so its easier to clean and healthier.

is that correct? whats the gauge of the syringe? isnt that hard to bend?

Looks like the nichrome is threaded through the stainless tubing which creates a rigid coil? Seems this would take a lot more power to heat up and hold residual heat longer after the button is released.

Yes it's coil inside a tube. I used 5ml,10ml , 20ml siringe needles. Most suitable is 5 & 10 about
0.7mm diameter. What about additional time to heat it up & cool down - forget it. 2 seconds to heat it before first puff, then you vape with no additional heating time because it's already hot and a cople of seconds to cool down after you finished vaping. Vaporisation is the most effective way to cool down anything. (telling as a graduated aviation engeneer). To cool it quikly do the last poof without heating.

What about heat capacity of needle- it has rather thin walls, so it can't hold a lot of heat.

But the most important thing is that the size of surface transmitting heat to the wick is much more then single coil.

Another thing is that tube works like a buffer for unnecessary heat, so all the system works in more comfortable mode.

And there is another one moment, discovered occationally. Oxidized tube works like overheatintg protection part. Oxide layer becomes conductive in case of overheating ( when you try to make cche red). Battery protection cirquit turns power off. In normal way cche never goes red , so no burned liquid with ugly taste.

that's a great idea grym, but I'm going to have to wait for your tutorial to understand it fully

like kosliev said, the oxidizing part confuses me. are the syringes conducting or not?

for those that are using the bamboo, are you making braids? I haven't used mine yet.

that said, I never realized what a BAD wicking material silica is until using cotton and stainless steel mesh recently. I have to TRY to get dry hits on CE2 type set ups, these materials wick with a vengeance. the capillary action is so fast that you can see a massive layer of juice around even a thin wick.

I own some bamboo gummy, but haven't used it yet

The gauze works just as well as the cotton yarn I got from my michaels, but yarn is easier to use as you don't have to braid it, its near perfect as is, works a tad better IMO if you remove one strand

hopefully someone that has used both will chime in

I am also using the bamboo and do not get any dry hits, its much better than the silica wick. I take 3 or 4 strands of the bamboo and tie a knot on one end and then attach the other end to my drill so it will twist the bamboo into one piece of wick. Then I take it off the drill and let it hang to dry. oh, I forgot to mention that is after a quick boil in water for cleaning,
I have not tryed the gauze method yet...... but by the sounds, I will have to give that a try,
