I whipped this up tonight with some left over Aunt Lydia's. It's 325 on the outside and the inner design is 500. I thought when it' rolled into a wick I'll have the best of both sizes incorporated into the wick.
I've got some of that. Great stuff. The Hemp Core is to give it stiffness in candles. The Hemp Core is slightly feisty, but certainly manageable in U-Shaped wicks. I found pulling the core out and using the cotton sheath as a wick works well. It's not Bamboo, but good.
PS Do we know that bleached materials are 'not' rinsed afterwards?

All I can say about BJ43 is 
Cotton comes in many colors
most of which are taboo or maybe illegal too grow due to fear of reducing whiteness by way of cross pollination. I have seen & touched(seeded it) a "cotton boll" & if the weather is dry enough it can be very white if one grows white heirloom seed. I garden & live near a community garden with some people that grew some a few years ago. Cotton begins to discolor from the second it is born. The boll I had within days turned the "pale yellow-tan" you mentioned. I am going to seek & buy some heirloom seed next season to grow
All (EDIT:modern process)cotton is bleached & some ways are much less hazardous than others. I do not know how my rolled cotton is processed, but after finding this [link] page I should be sourcing "hydrogen peroxide" only if it exists.
Hemp is not snow white if processed 100% naturally(How could it be, in the modern day?). I tie & macrame hemp & have enjoyed doing so for many many years(I am a few years rusty, but like a bike, it's still there). I have learned from & taught hemp spinning tricks to, professionals that worked hemp for a living @ music festival type stuff. Fully natural hemp is (I imagine) off color to some degree & likely extremely rare. As I comprehend it, fully natural processed hemp goes through a wet retting. The stalks are tied into teepee like bundles in the wet season harvests & submerged/dunked in dry environments. Water in the damp air mildew or puddle-like pools full of mold & bacteria break down some of the bark fibers & soften some inner ones, so that pounding &/or rolling is easier. It is old old old school, likely even in boondocks rural Romania. Most hemp is processed with some form of chemicals IMO, as it would be non bone or "snow white" due to the aforementioned. It is too easy to add some "get it done now" chemicals & it makes the life of the machinery last longer due to softer hemp. I could be wrong, but that's my

As I imagine it. The ancient old skool way of making rope was drown it, rotting it(steam it to quicken the process), then beat it with mallet like tools to remove the binding compounds & get @ the long woody fibers.
After all of that I imagine secondary hot chemical soupy bast/woody/bark & hurd/soft/core separation processes start on the non cord twine rope leftovers to get every bit of textile material.
Now a days some company may be doing it chem free, lots of people dig chem free! Let mE know if you find a source
I like the taste of boiled & baked Romanian hemp 100% hemp(no wax added) but it is not 100 natural processed. I rarely use it because my USP rolled cotton has less innate flavor. I do like hemp wick (added flavor) better than cotton on non flavored nic E nectars. I did not get around to buying any but, I will maybe try THIS stuff one day. It is sodium hydroxide processed, so a likely boil & bake keeps mE from rushing to buy it yet. The lye treatment removes all the woody stuff that does not absorb liquid @ all. That woody stuff makes up more than 50% of my fine cherished hemp twine. That stuff in the link is pure absorbent hemp. The company also has a hemp sliver that looks interesting
