Woh!, just rolled a tight 2 mm string from sterile gauzing cotton and stuck it in my Ody with a 1.5 ohm coil...I can't believe this...I have to spin my juice flow control to almost closed and I can still chain vape it...and it tastes awesome...I can't believe this stuff is $3 for what could be 2000 wicks and at any local drug store...and that ceramic was super tough to get too, Doh!

btw, I also got some organic cotton yarn and even though I boiled the crap out of it it still tasted like I was vaping a Bounce sheet, not a bad taste, it was like Spring Fresh, or Meadow Wild Flowers or something, just didn't mix well with my juice.

EDIT: super props to Evilgrym, with the number of rebuildables out there now this thread should be stickied

Just coming up on draining a 3ml tank vaped on cotton baton, I have to say, I've fallen in love with my Ody all over again...the taste is...kind of hard to describe...it's rounder with cotton, not less but less edgy...I always had a hard time vaping the Ody at night, it was just too "in your face" with the ceramic. Ody's are never shy when it comes to making tons of vapor and sure, the ceramic is a great TH centric nic delivery method that tasted great but it always left this slight burny feeling in the back of my throat...with the cotton, everything is there but the burn...even if I had to change this wick out every couple days it'll be worth it...if any of you are on the fence with this, go to a drug store and spend the $3 and twist up a wick, don't worry about not knowing what to do or how to do it, neither did I 4 hrs ago...I'm going to now rip DonG for not linking this thread to a post I just happened to be checking out...it's all his fault

+1 for sticky, also don't have that throat scratching anymore, and the flavours are clean, this vape is so clean I don't even remember anymore what a dry wick tastes like.

bamboo/cotton yarn might be easier to work with, but having to find a sewing store? ordering from internet? boiling stuff? Yeah nah, get the gauze at the supermarket and off you go, make the diameter of your coil bigger so its easier to just roll it and place it in there, changing it will be a breeze, coils dont have to be super small and super tight like done around needles with just 3-4 twists, if you like low resistance stuff, try with a bigger diameter wire so it takes more wire to make the coil.

if you dont want to buy new wire, take 2 strands of your wire and twist them together (it'll act like its bigger diameter and lower the resistance, more surface is heated up, and the heating up is less violent, the tighter you twist them the lower the resistance). russians call it "pigtails"

Everyone needs to try this gauze stuff, its that good.

If you're looking to spend little, skip the Ody (Odysseus by GG)...is like the Ferrari of CE2 tank style rebuildable attys, sure, it goes like s**t through a goose when it's working, but spends most of the time up on the mechanics hoist...just rebuild a CE2 (lots of threads on that)...it'll give you a good idea of how good this cotton thing can be.

edit: now that I type that, I may rebuild a CE2 again though I don't see that 1.2ml lasting long.

Time to try the cotton wick :D

First test will be in my Odysseus, currently using it with mesh wick, I will install a cotton yarn wick on top of the mesh coil and through the ceramic channels...

Hello people, I've been lurking this thread for a couple weeks now. Great stuff, thanks all.
I'm curious if anyone would share their favorite brand/s of gauze. The gauze I tried tasted like strong vanilla, not good.

100% cotton sterile gauze pads works good for me. No taste at all. It is sterilized with x-ray.:vapor:

If you have a dead XL-Mega DCC. You can make one of these. Holds a lot of juice and you get to reuse the rubber drip tip.

Mine is always on the auto bahn. Tearing it up! Have yet to try the cotton in short mode. Didn't work so well on drip mode.
