Found this at the supermarket used to tie up meat for roasting, 100% natural cotton twine. Looking for something that will hold together on the "Line" without having to sheath in mesh.

I'm looking forward to trying this, but it'll be a while before I get some resistance wire and attempt rebuilding a CE2 or something.

I've got the cotton and bamboo yarn to try, but I also found some cheesecloth in the kitchen that looks promising. I'm pretty sure that it was bought from Walmart. Prym Creative Cheesecloth, food safe, 100% cotton. I think it was less than $5 for 36" x 6yd (91.4 cm x 5.5 m).

Ok I set up a cheap line with the twine. Burnt the first attempt had the voltage too high. The second attempt i made the wick longer so more will soak in the juice and so I can pull up and rewind a new coil when needed. This setup is working well with a 2 ohm 5 wrap coil.
...

Hmmm, if the wick gets dirty, and you have enough installed, just pull it through the coil, clip and keep vaping.

All's well so far, have a mesh/ gauze on one and a cotton twine on another, but neither give me the heavy vaper I like. Now for the real test, over the years I have come to the conclusion that for thick heavy vapor I prefer, you need a large heating area, 7 to 8 32 awg wraps on a 2mm+ wick 2.8/3 ohms 4.5 to 5.5 volts. Doing the same one gauze and one twine with more stands and 7 to 8 wraps to see if it will stand up to my preference in vaping.

BJ43, does a larger heating coil equal more throat hit as well? Something I've been struggling with is getting more throat hit. I do use 100% VG, but the problem is: in the morning the throat hit is excellent. Throughout the day it lessens more and more until it's very light feeling. If I stop vaping for an hour I get the throat hit back, but I quickly "get used" to it.

So I'm always looking for more throat hit. I know PG might provide more throat hit, and someone also mentioned menthol crystals (although I'm not a fan of menthol, they assure me it isn't like menthol cigarettes), but is there anything else I can do to increase this? I was thinking of trying more coil wraps, but I can't fit a whole lot on my Line... but I'm sure I can squeeze one or two more in there..

I get the same exact thing, I'm glad you posted this. And it happens regardless of the VG/PG composition of my juice

I was just vaping straight PG to test an atty, and it gives zero throat hit. Throat irritation is more like it. Yuck. And that ain't throat hit.

I think its the sensitivity of your oropharyngeal mucosa to nicotine...a 'fresh' hit is like 'WOAH' but as you keep pumping it in there it dies down....just speculation

But like I said, its the same story for me. Morning TH is monstrous. Dwindles as I chain vape. Comes back after a break.

I hear ya buddy. I think the only fix is to up the volts, up the nic as you go through the day, or take breaks :)

To be honest I remember the same thing with cigs. The morning .... was rocking, and with each sequential cig it would get more and more pale in comparison. But after a long break, "ahhhhhhhh"

I get what you say, TH in the morning is so hard I cough but by the evening I hardly feel it. I guess our throats get accustomed to it, saying that, IMO throat hit comes from nic % mostly, next volume of vaper, and last heat which IMO is a false TH, but many claim it and is the main popularity of LR, they get very concentrated heat (also distort the flavor). Since I also vape 100% VG and 0 or very little nic, I depend on vaper volume and menthol crystals. I also never smoked menthol cigs but have gotten to like it vaping and it gives a good TH. I have gotten many friends off analogs and then off nic using menthol crystals because of the throat hit. ( Could also be the vodka I dissolve the crystals in. lol)

if you get it going I'd request a pic? :)

I'm curious how far you space out your coils to achieve this. I was under the impression that you want the coils closer together for a thicker vape, but I think that impression is bogus
I leave a space about 1 to 1.5mm between each coil. I don't think the spacing has anything to do with volume of vaper, pure thermodynamics, more surface area (wire) more vaper. Too close spacing does tend to gunk up faster.

I also enjoy menthol vapes even though I never smoked menthol analogs. I have recently stopped vaping menthol though, as I have concerns about the safety of it, due to all those studies that showed an increased risk of smoking menthol as opposed to regular cigs. I know vapor is different than smoke, and there may be nothing harmful about menthol and it's just that menthol cig smokers inhale deeper, but I've recently read that other vapers are avoiding it, so, yeah. I need more info I guess...
