Don't rub your eyes, my phone took this pic. You can see where the wires meet.
This a vivi nova coil with nr wire.
Without nr or another solution, the rubber gasket burns because the whole wire gets hot.
I do have scorch marks on my original ones but not on the new ones.

Thats an awful lot of wraps...

@ Gummy, your flooding with a nova tank wouldn't be pressure related. You can take the top off a nova tank without leaking, shotgun a hit, it doesn't need vacuum to work correctly.

The flooding would seem to indicate more juice wicking that the wattage in the coil can handle. Upping the voltage, lowering the ohms, or tightening the wick to vape slower would work. You need to vaporize the juice as fast as it's wicking.

I agree but,,, the stock heads or the 1st 3 heads I made didn't flood then for the past 3 days no matter which head I have on it ,, it floods and my wife's also so it isn't something with the lower tank part if two different ones are doing it.

Gummy, you need to suck harder!! Seriously tho, I dont know if your aware of the Gotvapes thread dedicated to just this issue.

That's what I specifically was looking for, solder joints. I threw the other two away, so I can't check them again, but I just remembered I had a 1.8ohm that I had removed intact. I looked at that one again and there is no way it's got NR on it. I magnified it at least 15X and looked closely at both ends. There were no joints at all. So, I guess I must have gotten burned if that's the standard. Why didn't Gotvapes send me NR wire when I asked them to send wire and wick to rebuild my V2.5 heads?

Also, what's with all the coils in the pic? None of mine had that many wraps. Actually, I don't really care. I didn't see any scorching worth worrying about on the V2's that I rebuilt so far. I don't know about scorching on the V2.5's because I either tore them apart before I used them or I had already replaced them with single strand. IMO, it's not worth the trouble trying to tie in NR wire on such a tiny piece of wire anyway. I'd have to do it by twisting, since my micro-soldering skills aren't up to snuff.

I don't mean to step on anyone's toes if you are very fond of your ViVi tank (I am for that matter), But...We are all still testing those style tanks for the Mfg in my opinion. I know GotVapes is working with them in improving those.

I still have the V1 tank I bought because I refused to buy more until they actually worked out of the box. I know a lot of folks are saying the V2/v2.5 is pretty close.

I re-wicked my V1 tonight with 100% cotton galls and so far the flavor is still very muted, But I'm hoping for improvement based on your comments from cotton use.

After much trial/error/success I have finally found the process for my vivi nova. I'm using Patons Grace - Free Knitting and Crochet Patterns! - Patons Yarn. It's pretty small and very close to the size of a silica. I had been doing wicks that are a bit bigger than standard and didn't have a lot of luck with this stuff. The key to this stuff was keeping it small with just a single layer instead of doubling and tripling I had been doing. Second piece of the puzzle was to unravel the yarn into it's 4 individual strands. For the coil I used a very small screw. I'm not sure of the size but it's about the same diameter as an 18 gauge needle. Then about 8 wraps with 32 awg nichrome wire. I never would have thought that this small of a wick would do as good as it does. For me, this is the best and most repeatable process I've used.

Well that's not so bad. If cotton is your thing you can run it through after pulling the silica out but no nr for us vivi modders, long enough to double the leads though/ Give your new wick a little time to saturate and maybe try different material, I usually cant wait and burn the cotton a bit.

is mercerized cotton safe for inhalation? Also it may be that technique that makes it work so well...

Personally, I'm wary of trying mercerized yarn, as it seems that it's treated with lye to alter it's structure. I would suppose that it would be neutralized or eliminated in the process, but I hated chemistry, and really don't know...

I've given up on yarn altogether, as I've found that good, pure cotton balls work phenomenally, with some practice.

I've tried a couple of 100% cotton yarns (no dye,) including the popular one earlier in the thread, and they irritate my airways even after several boilings.

I subscribe to the opinion that there is sizing or some other substance there causing my adverse reaction to it, since cotton balls do not bother me so.

I have not tried bamboo yarn yet, though I do look forward to trying it sometime. I'm quite partial to the cotton balls, though, and I think that the $2 bag that I bought will last years. :)

How many ohms are you getting with 8 wraps and what ver. Nova are you using?

Mercerized cotton was discussed earlier in this thread. It's just a process and there are not supposed to be any residuals to be concerned with. But who knows for sure...

It's a v1. I don't usually measure the resistance because I use a kick. I'll take a reading tonight but I would guess a Tad over 2ohms.

I loved the plain cotton as well but my results were completely inconsistent.
