Wick materials. Safe vs dangerous.

IMO: I have now tried cotton string, cotton gauze, cotton candle wick,cotton yarn, and rolled cotton batten. They all worked in different degrees in my vivi novas. All work 100% better if I place a 3/4 inch of rolled cotton batten about 2mm dia on top of the coil/wick assembly. They all seem to work as good as the next with this over coil wick. Keeps the coil wet and never a dry hit. All needed to break in to get good flavor. I now have 4 setups all with the different wicks mentioned, all same coils, all the same juice and I can't tell any difference when I vape them. Did a blind test with a friend and he swears I gave him the same one each time.

Forgot cotton cheesecloth, that and the batten cotton were the best alone but still improved with the additional over coil wick.

I've been re-wicking my CE2 with the batten, cutting the ends off just outside of the ceramic cup; then laying a long batten wick over the top with the ends going down in the juice. Been working GREAT! . Ran the initial set up all of last week, with a couple of water rinses. Monday I removed the wick in the coil and put in a new one (like road said, I was getting bored ), rinsed the same long wick and am still going.

Man!, every time I build my Ody I forget the extra little piece of cotton laid over top my cheese cloth wicks, btw, I've dropped down to a 45 thread count...I think it's about as good as it's going to get regarding wicking, slot fill post swell and still avoid (mostly) the "half tank" flood Ody's are known for in long mode...

I was changing the Quigstick about every 3-4 days in my Line if I vape a ton on it...my juices are quite light and don't tend to goop but they do drop off flavour wise kinda quick (but they seem to last longer in my GTUS?)...it's either that or it's just because I'm so spoiled with the tons of flavour and vape, anything less than perfect and it's out...maybe the issue with the GTUS is because it's such a unique vape experience (cool) I just don't notice it as much???

Will have to try that as well BJ, I have some new clearos coming that are begging for it (T2, E1, V2 and Mini Vivi). I'll be damned if I'm going to leave them in silica mode for long lol.

how big/long is your baton roll?

EDIT: Do you make cut outs in your silicon seals to accommodate the wicks better or just use them stock?

I've got to dig up my rebuildable CE2 one day...but by looking how my Vivi goes through juice...

Can someone sum-up this thread, what is the safest material to wick with? I've tried to read through, but to much info to digest. Will be receiving an era bottom fed atty soon, and looking for something safer than the included silka. I use ss mesh in my genesis.

I haven't put any top seals in my CE2s for the past 6 months or more. First thing I do when I open a new one is remove the seals (if it's an older style I then replace the tube with a syringe tube too). It was too much of a pain refilling every mL with the syringe. Now I just pull off the drip tip and fill directly from the juice bottle. I seldom lay my CE2s horizontal; but unless it's just filled, there's not much chance of any leakage even if I do. Frankly, while I have tilted the CE2s in the past to wet the wicks, I've never had to turn them upside down .

That's going to really depend on who does the summing up...if it's me...go to a grocery store and buy a pack of cheese cloth, it's all I use (either unwoven for the thread or just rolled up like you would mesh)...it does it all, for me
