If I remember correctly, Zippo wicks have metal wires in them to keep the wick in one piece and easier fit it through the lighter. It's been 3+ years since I've had to rebuild my Zippo's, but I believe that's the case.

I think the biggest issue concerning harmful wicking materials is that none of us know any long-term side effects. With smoking, you're well aware of the long-term issues and the outcome based on 60 years of it's existence, while it's only been a few years with ecigs. I think the primary concern by most people about the little things with ecigs is justified, but I also believe it to be a "harm reduction", rather than intrinsically safe. I knew walking into the ecig world that very little testing had been done, but since I knew every ingredient in the liquid I was vaping, and I know exactly what's in my rebuildable atomizer, I don't worry about it at all.

Agreed 100%

Who said anything about zippo wicks being food safe ?

on a different not that has nothing to do with the above is I think it is funny how some people switch to vaping then worry about the small things that could be potentially harmfull but a thousand times less than that of smoke but are still worried but were'nt worried about the smoke they were inhaling for god only knows how long lol

I doubt that candle wick is "food safe" LOL
%100 cotton yarn not being food safe is however approved for making booties, mittens and caps for infants.

Forgot all about having set up this calculator for work  It's perfect for getting an idea of the length of your resistance wire, and with that, the resistance (ohms) of your coil. Unless you have a perfectly formed coil and exact measurements, this will be a ballpark figure; but should be a close ballpark :D

If you use this and have any issues, please let me know - this is provided with no guarantees of receiving correct or accurate information ;)

If anyone has any other type of calculator you would like to see on this page, PM me. If I can set it up, I'll put it on the page.

Bamboo...good stuff! I don't know if Bamboo Crochet Thread is what I have. Mine is pretty thin material. I use 8 to 12 threads. I know at 6 threads, I was getting a few dry hits (other varaibles may have been in play). I've used 12 threads with no problems I recall in CE4 type cartomizers. Good luck!

...try an even dozen.

To late, went with 6 (double pin, 1.7 coil)...it's what seemed to lay nice in the Ody's ceramic slots (and thinking swell)...it's pretty early but I can already tell the bamboo is a little less "in your face" as far as TH, warmer, mellower but the overall taste is about the same as CC, though it would be less hassle to build (if I didn't have a bunch of pre made CC wick)...see how it goes long term
