Eddie.Willers here on ECF is the Wiki SysOp. Maybe you should PM him.

Thanks for this post, SloHand.

I have been in touch with Eddie, and he said...

ECF does have a Wiki - E-Cigarette Wiki. It is a labor of love and grows very slowly. I think the majority of ECF users are not aware of it or find it more convenient to ask a question (or search for an answer) in the main forum.

ECF's Wiki is set up the same as Wikipedia and uses the same Mediawiki software. We are trying to use similar standards (for layout, content and policy) as Wikipedia. Browsing is open to the public, but editing requires registration - for which one must have at least 25 posts on ECF and use the same user name as the main ECF forum. This cuts down on the spam and newbies making 'helpful' changes.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

So if you guys still want the Consolidation in the Wiki, we can do that... if you really want all the newbie "helping hands" (or any others for that matter) making changes to your work.

Personally, I'd rather go for a Thread where access is limited to those with a Password to Google Drive, and shoot for a Sticky. Anything that came to light from the Wiki could be added to the Thread/Sticky.

I did my first atty rebuild today... and the second one too...

I had several "spent" atties for my Vivi Nova in the sonic bath. I once had a bunch of them saved up but ended up throwing them out because they are so cheap to buy...

In any case, I have been experiencing an "itchy throat" sensation and would start coughing after several drags. It really has become a problem and then today, I read that the wicks that come in the atty heads were that silica/glass rope. I read on here about using cotton yarn and set out to get me a roll of it after successfully rebuilding a head and hitting my 1.5 ohm target on the first try.

I popped into a "Dollar General" and asked if they had any cotton yarn. The cashier said no, but led me to a "twine" in the automotive section. I sort of scoffed at it when she said "twine", but after looking at it, the label said it was all natural cotton fiber twine. "Why not" I thought. I bought a ball of it and set out for the lab...

I cut off about 5 inches of it and washed it off. After drying and building, it worked out great. the twine was exactly the right size for the slots in the atty head. I have been vaping on it for 2 tanks at 3.3V on the ProVari and it is AWESOME! It makes CLOUDS, tastes great and the itchy throat and coughing fits have all but gone away.

I thought that $2.50 was reasonable for these atties, but after this, I think I am going to start brewing my own from here on out. I have made 5 to have in reserve. All of them test out at 1.5 ohms. I am using small ziploc bags from the drug store to keep them from getting any contaminants on them.

Just my contribution!

Hey Roadrash! Just lazy I 'spect. LOL! I started wondering about a month ago what the problem was with the coughing and irritated airway... I guess I know now. Now I just need to find an insulator to take the place of the one the coil is in inside the stock atties... They get brittle and split after a couple of rebuilds...

Hi all,
I'm trying to work my way through this thread, but considering it's size, i've given up hope catching up with you guys, so i thought i'd just post this question that i have.
I'm really keen on trying out hemp, cotton and bamboo wicks and I was was wondering what atty would give me the largest possible options to try different wicks in different configurations.

I guess I'd recommend a simple rebuildable such as the A7 RBA or Phoenix RBA. The are both simple and flexible enough to configure in different ways. I prefer the A7 for the central air path, but some prefer side air openings for somewhat more adjustable airflow across the coil.

If you can get one and you don't mind paying a couple bucks get an ERA, either a dripper or bottom feeder (what ever your style)...they're a great platform to get creative...in that style there's also Fatty's (dripper only, though I bet I could mod it ;)...got to get one of those), Hornets (same guy that makes the ERA)...skip the Reomisers...you'll just break it.

Other than that, I agree with Lucent, for one of the biggest bangs for your buck and a great sandbox...get an A7

Nice video Quigsworth. When you blew that cloud for the first time I went "oh sh#t"
gotta have to try that BJ's oval on my A7. :) did you get the kanthal wire locally?

I think it may depend on if you modded your A7...I've drilled all mine for side air (they are naaasty to drill) then stick an o ring in the well of the bf mod to seal...the oval coil works great, in fact with that set up the A7's will keep pace with ERA's...but if you're on bottom air it may not make that much a difference...worth a try though, having said that, the rebuildability (new word?) ease with the 28 is worth the price of admission...

I just get my Kanthal off Ebay...I just ordered this: Kanthal A1 wire 28 Gauge 250 FT (1.53oz) Resistance Resistor AWG A-1 | eBay

Ok Ok you convinced me.. I have to get or make a bottom feeder. I have 8 A7s with my oval wick. Unbelievable that in over 4 years I have yet to "Squonk". Squonking is my new goal and becoming a member of the honorable squonkers society.:toast:
Hey, speaking of ERA's, I did another vid last night (had to do a re-build and my cam was handy so...), this is how I've been doing my BJ oval/bamboo
