Yeah, i think i've wrapped these last two coils too tight but also possibly with a bit of the first wrap on one side not making contact with the wick.. anything above 5.5w and i get that awful taste. The vanilla custard comes through at 5.5 though. Can't waste anymore juice(my long wicks hold a good .8ml) as i'm broke till wednesday and it will be a miracle if i can make the juice i have left last - i have yet to build up a stash, been vaping all of what i've bought between paydays. Hate being poor. I've literally spent every spare penny i have (and a lot i didn't) on vaping over the last 2 months so i'm just going to have to put up with it till i've mostly emptied this tank. I'll just hit it light and often then try another. Fortunately, I can get by on the hardware i have so other than tracing wick materials here in the uk any spare money i have now can go on juice :D

on the over a pint of juice i have in various wishlists all over the internet... mua-ha-ha-ha-haaaa

edit: just looking at the kanger protank again... anyone tried these wicks in a bottom coil device?

Yeah that sounds like the 'hot spot' taste Skree. Try wrapping the coil on a nail or drill bit first then insert wicks after, not too loose and not too tight. I used to hold a straightened paper clip along with wick when wrapping coil then take out the paper clip, but this method created hot spots on coil half of the times and tasted awful. I don't get that metalic taste anymore since I started wrapping coil first and insert wick after.

I'm using this bottom coil tank called Vapeonly from Gotvapes and it's definately my favorite tank so far. Way better than Vivi Nova. No more wicking issues and burnt tastes. I totally recommend it to all tank lovers. Kanger Evod is another bottom coil tank(smaller capacity) I use and it works just as good too.

I have cotton set up in my DiD and in a few AGA-T atomizers. It works best on the devices with large wick holes, with as much cotton as you can get in there. I always roll the coil on a toothpick and put it on the device before inserting the cotton. Then just roll/twist the cotton until it's the shape of a wick and kind of twist it down through the coil. Works quite well.

Edit: I did want to add to this that the flavor is better in the drippers than in the tanks. Flavor is still good in the tanks, but better in the drippers. I assume it has to do with how/where the air hits the coil. The tanks do wick well though and are good when dripping is problematic (driving and whatnot).

hmm I have tried cotton on alot of drippers, but which tanks are you using jamesd1628. Still looking for a good rebuildable tank that is. I do like the SS mesh, but its just not for on the go. And I do like the cotton I am using in the drippers, and my vivi's work fine, but my flavor tends to go bad very fast in a vivi anyway, so looking for something other

Try laying a loose wick over the top of the coil, this can help with hot spots on the coil. China has started doing this with some of their cartos/clearos and I've seen them referred to as "flavor wicks".
Should have patented my first wick over coil.

It don't matter the Chinese would have stole it anyway. lol

My advanced wick over coil design was to leave one leg of the wick long and drape it back up and over the coil. Ya know, Like a comb over except you didn't have to worry about the wind blowing it off.

I thought from the very beginning of this thread that hemp would be the best. ;)

Hey, so I'm a noob to the forum but I have been vaping for two years. I read the first 100 pages or so and skipped to the end... so just wanted to say the cotton vs hemp back and forth I have seen could be solved... I found a 100% natural fiber. 65% cotton 35% hemp blend at "Michael's." It is " Martha Stewart" brand rufly 2mm in diameter and isn't as loose and plain yarn. Just cut, boil, rinse, dry, wrap, and blow clouds ... took care of the dry hit problem in my Splitfire tank.. just my 2 cents thanks for all the info in this thread.

So I'm a long time Vapor but pretty new to RBA and have been using the wicks that came with my eternity vision RBA. I'm looking for safe alternatives, can someone sum up whats being used right now (A lot of material on here). I've seen a lot of options, though if there are any types of wicks that are safe and ok to dry burn I'd prefer that type of material (though I don't know if that is a option). So whats the scoop?
