I run ceramic, sold as readyXwick. I get 3 to 5 months from a coil and wick combo.

What gauge wire are you using for that super coil?

I like the durability, but for some reason I can't seem to thread it in the coil anymore. Maybe it's the twisted 30/28g wire I'm using, but I struggle even with a 5/64" diameter. Went back to the KGD to retain what's left of my sanity.

I run 28 or 29 ga usually just did a 30ga dual for my Odin.

Trick is the cut the 2mm wick on an angle. Study the wraps in the coil and think of the wraps like threads in a nut. You want to twist the wick like it's a bolt going into the threads of a nut. If you twist with the wraps of the coil they pull it through, if you twist the wrong direction then the wraps will try to push the wick back at you.

Look at the leg on the bottom of this coil. If you twist in a clockwise direction, the leg will help tuck the ends in and the wraps will pull it in. Remember it's not always clockwise I could have the wraps going the other way depending on how I make the coil.

I just caught that your using two wires twisted together then making the coil. that does make it much harder to thread.

I actually believe Cellucotton and pure 100% Rayon are two different things.

Distorto is correct, they are one and the same - kinda like Advil and Motrin. They both contain ibuprofen.

Rayon and cellucotton are both pure cellulose fiber.

There is Cellucotton Rayon (SKU# 44060) and Cellucotton Cotton (SKU# 42251). You have to be careful when purchasing that you get the box that specifically states rayon.

500ft vs 40ft. Quite a few different SKUs with different lengths.
A lot of people seem to order for Sally Beauty Supply.

Thanks, I went through the thread in the Reo forum the first time and got it done. It may be the twisted wire, but it's almost time for some new coils in the Reo's so I'll try some plain 28g and see what happens.
If you hear a primal scream and some gnashing of teeth from the West, that will probably be me . . . . .

I purchased mine from a local store nearby. When searching the store I originally picked up the wrong box as they looked identical and are the same size.

Yep, looks like 42251 is cotton. On the far too long Rayon thread there is a list of all the SKUs that are 100% rayon in different lengths. There are quite a few.

That is VERY true! I accidentally got the cotton stuff at first and it was no bueno.

Rayon is my preferred wick. For rayon, you have to wick it very differently from cotton. "Less is more" does NOT apply to rayon.

I haven't tried Japanese cotton yet, but plan to do so soon to compare.

Because I use the same juice every day, all day, I change my wicks about once a week, if cotton. I just put in a SS mesh wick that I expect to get a month on. I am not a fiddly person, and doing it daily would annoy me. So, I wanted something that would last. That is what is great about vaping, we all learn our own way. I am a fill er up and go, kind of gal. :rickroll:

Awesome info in this thread. I never wandered into the epic wicking debate threads, but this thread is like the cliff notes. :)

As for me I am using Cotton Bacon and it's been great for me, but I haven't tried much else. Thinking some of the KGD might be interesting.

I switch it out when I'm switching flavors, which is generally every day or every other day. I have been favoring a 2.3 - 2.5 mm coil on the Taifun, so wicking is pretty painless. On those tight little micro coils I would lose my mind if I re-wicked every day.

Started with organic cotton and I would boil it as well. Watch pbsuardos video on wick materials and have used KGD ever since. It is awesome!! If you go kgd, do not feed the vendors who are making it ridiculous to find. You should pay 12 bucks for a box that will last a loooong time

Or find a Macy's or similar and buy Shiseido in a 160+ pad package for $10 and change including sales tax from the cosmetics department.

Mmm Bacon. I buy from RTD Vapor. It's been treating me well, but I've not played the field with wicking material. They had me at bacon...

ScratchyWeasel, have you tried a wrapped vertical coil in your Taifun?

I just tried it. It's like getting spritzed in the mouth with juice, the flavor is so thick.

All my Taifuns (GT's and GS's) will be set up this way from now on. Wow!

No I have not tried this, but it sounds really interesting. Thanks for mentioning it! Going to give this a try on the next rebuild. Actually having trouble picturing it now that I'm thinking about it. With the side juice inlets I always just run the wick right up to the edge of the chamber on each side. I imagine there is some trickery involved for a vertical coil. Will need to google this a bit. If you have any tips let me know!
