wicks and coils

I made some experiments the last 3 days. I found that a 2mm fat wick is best for 3,7 volts. A 3mm or a 3,5mm fat wick is best for 6 volts.

Also, I always make a very tight coil around the wick. When I leave it loosy I have burn taste all the time

I have been kinda snug on mine.. maybe ill try tight. Are we talking double wicks too?

a simple wick Natron. Thats how I do my coils. I am used to 1 wick just because I am trying to produce more smoke with the most simple way for the customers

Have to agree on tight coils being better. Whenever I haven't wrapped them tight enough I get a very strong metallic taste that never goes away.

A lesson learned

I think it's all about balance. To loose and the coil will heat up without touching juice and burn red. It's actually easy to check this by just firing something for a minute and see if any part turns red. That part is too loose and will create a burning metallic flavor.

But, I find if you wrap coils too tight it chokes the wick and juice doesn't get to all the coils. I like to wrap coils that are clearly touching the wick, but I like to make sure the wick is not scrunched up in bumps where the coil is squeezing the wick.

i like it tight but i run a syringe needle thru the wick first, then as tight as i can.
