Based upon Koda's size and coloration, I am going to guess that he is a Dogo de Argentino, or mix of that breed. They have American Pit Bull Terrier in the original founding stock as well as several other breeds such as the Great Dane. They were bred for hunting, protection, and guarding. American Kennel Club - Dogo Argentino

In cities and municipalities that have BSL laws, they are often, unfortunately, banned as 'pit bulls'. With my girls, I have three of the breeds that are also lumped under the 'pit bull' heading. Domino is an American Pit Bull Terrier - ADBA registered, as was Otis, (they were full siblings). She weighs about 35lbs. Gracie is an American Staffordshire Terrier - AKC registered and weighs just under 50lbs. Doja is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and is UKC registered. She weighs in at about 40lbs. They each hold multiple obedience titles and are all three working TDI certified therapy dogs. Domino is also a certified SAR dog and has worked in search and rescue - most recently in Joplin, MO last year, when the tornadoes went thru there and tore up that area.

Sadly, even with all of their training, awards, and all of their certifications, if BSL were enacted here in Texas, (and I will fight to my last breath and my last dollar to make certain it never happens), my girls could be taken from me and executed - just like what happened in Denver and the surrounding areas. Not because of anything that they, or I have done - but just because of how they look. I despise BSL. >:-{

This is my little boy his name is Max. He is a Pyrenean Mastiff and we got him from Save our Stays of VT. He came from IN. This pic is a year old and now he is 145 lbs of teenager (2 1/2) but, god help someone that comes into the house if we are not there. He really is just a big baby though. We think no one wanted him from his free slim shower he give every now and then. LOL

He would if he got on it. LOL I think he thinks it's to hot up there for him. He likes the floor in front of the air conditioner in the summer and in the snow in the winter or the bath room floor away from the pellet stove. :D But, if I had his fur coat I would probably do the same. Loves the rain and funny thing his coat only gets wet on the outside. Wipe him down once with a towel and he is dry. If a leaf, bird, butterfly, chipmunk, fly, stick, bug, car or truck drives by, reflection from something shiny or wind goes through the back yard he is on it and has to have it gone. LOL
