I was wondering if i stop the analogues altogether will the cravings for them stop? Right now i am getting used to using the pv in the mornings instead of lighting up. However around 10am i start to get cravings and i try to hold on as long as i can and just vape away, but by 2 pm i seem to give up and have a smoke. But then i want more analogues. I am smoking between 4 - 6 a day (better than the usual at a pack and a half a day)but would like to know if i fight the urges for a smoke, will those urges go away and if so how long. To me this seems like when i quit cold turkey before. 7 months later i just couldn't take it anymore and started smoking again. I am hoping that with vaping the urges will end if i give up analogues. Will they though?

I don't know whether they go away altogether forever or not, because I've only been at this a few weeks, but it does get better. I noticed a definite improvement after the first three days and the cravings became very minimal after the first week.

What helped me to get through those first hard three days was this- I finished all my cigarettes on a Friday. The next morning I got up and the urge to drive down to the store was excruciating. But I told myself, I will not buy any cigarettes today. If tomorrow is as bad as this, I'll buy some tomorrow.

I repeated that process until it got easier. See, it is always today. Never tomorrow.

That's the process that worked for me. Good luck!!

you may want to consider increasing the nicotine level in your liquid. i work at our local shop, and we always suggest that people trying to quit analogs start out at 24mg/ml. you can always work your way down. whenever you get the urge to smoke, just vape. if your nicotine level is high enough, then you should see your cravings go away. however, i don't know what nicotine level you are using.

Mines have but I've seen several members say that they had them on & off for a while. But the good news is that if you stick with vaping & continue to cut back one day you'll pick one up light it & realize it tastes disgusting! Remember your body is reacting to you taking away all of the other highly addictive chemicals that cigarettes contain. What level nic are you using? You may need to buy a bottle with a higher nic content for the times you get the really bad cravings.

I think if you find a good nic mg you need they subside greatly..but sometimes i get a faint urge of smoking then the vmax comes to life and its over..funny thing i actually think smoke is nasty..(it is btw) i am on a 24mg and use 4-5-ml a day .. i also smoked for the first 2 days ..cuz i had 2 packs left and when i was smoking the last one they just seemed nasty..im hooked on the vape now wanting the biggest baddest vape..i love it ..keep at it i feel much better every day

I was on 16 nic but it was strong and i was coughing from it. So i got 12 nic. I guess everyone is different and i just have to stop the analogs and see what happens after a few days.

16? I think you should be using at least 24mg. 18 wasn't cutting it for me with a pack a day habit, it certainly won't cut it for you. You may even have to go up to 36. It could be the reason that you are coughing is not the nicotine level, but from the PG. I have asthma and the PG makes me cough, but VG doesn't. Try a VG blend - Mount Baker Vapor allows you to choose the blend.

You have to switch that "ahhh" feeling from the analog to the e-cig, and having the right amount of nic is the key. Also, the right equipment. If its a hassle to vape, you won't be inclined to do it.

I did quit once for nine years. I can tell you absolutely that the cravings subside, and eventually turn into disgust at the mere thought of smoking a cigarette.

The cravings will subside over time. The process takes a while...its been almost three months and I still crave occasionaly.

If you're comfortable using 12mg, then stay there. When I started Vaping, I switched from analogs immediately. The initial cravings were bad enough that I was hitting the PV constantly, and making myself physically sick due to the strength of the liquid (24mg) I was using. Once I lowered the strength, I was fine and the transition went a lot more smoothly.

If you are coughing from the 16mg nicotine (which isn't that high) then you might want to consider getting juice with more VG in it, which will help smooth it out.

you need to find the dosage of nicotine that allows you to put the cigs down. for me stopped 3 PAD in 1.5 weeks using 36MG, once i stopped i stepped down to 24 MG. and 1 week ago stepped down to 16MG. playing the waiting game for the 6 MG, and 0 MG. coming in the mail, if they ever ship.treat it like the worst drug addiction you ever had. identify your favorite cigs, identify your triggers. change your routine. read these threads like your life depends on it. it does. your support group is right here doing it right alongside you. you have to make the decision to put those puppies down. it will suck, no matter what everyone says on here. you will feel pain, urges, and a plethora (love big words.)of emotions. after 1 week of no cigs you will start to realize every day is getting better. not smoking is the most empowering thing i have felt in a very long time. remember the worst will be over in 1 month. at the end of the day, you have to be the one to jump off the cliff. no one can do it for you. the rewards speak for themselves. :toast:

I had a lot of cravings at first and frankly, after 7 months I still have them at times. I was using 24mg liquid and I could usually vape thru them. After a few months, I was vaping mostly fruits at 12mg, but I had a 18mg tobacco flavor for those bad cravings. They do go away (mostly) after a few weeks...hang in there.

Yes. They will get better, I wouldn't have believed it a month ago. I was a 1-2 PAD smoker for 12 years, tried to quit several times over the last 5 years. The one thing I can tell you is that no one ever quit who wasn't ready to quit. I know I wasn't. Longest I ever stayed quit before was 3 months, and only because I was laid up from work with an injury. That first day back at work I bummed a few and then went out and bought a pack at lunch. When I first started vaping a month ago I was still smoking 1-5 a day. The hardest thing for me to stop was while driving. As soon as I fired up the truck, my body MADE me light one up. I'd light up, then after a few puffs I'd realize what I was doing, and it was like waking from a dream, I honestly wouldn't remember lighting up. After a week or so I just quit buying them and I vaped twice as much. I started off on 24mg and vaped that till it tasted bad, took about 2 weeks, then I stepped down to 18. I'm pretty happy at 18 for now - it works for me. The thing that made it easier was when I switched from the CE4's that came on my twists to the Vivi Nova tanks - WOW what a difference. Once I upgraded to those, I didn't miss analogs so much. Now that I've tried a few different Mods, I've got the bug BAD, and I'm frantically searching for an affordable(to me) mod and RBA. Keep fighting the fight, every day will be a unique challenge, until one day you wake up reaching for your ecig and toss the pack in the trash

I'm no expert but 4-6 a day from 1.5PAD is quite a major milestone in my eyes!

From what I understand a lot of the addictive properties of normal tobacco are not in e-cigs, such as MAOI's which keep dopamine and other 'happy' chemicals in your brain for longer, strengthening the nicotine habit.

My uneducated advice would be to go higher nicotine, and find a mix that isn't too harsh for you (VG based seem to be lighter on the throat from what I've read). I'm sure if you have elevated nicotine in your body the urge for normal cigarettes will subside, and the your brain will restructure itself to no longer crave the crap in normal cigarettes.
