Ey there!
Im currently using 7x19 twisted strand. That means there are 19 thin wire strands twisted into a bigger strand, and then 7 of those strands twisted together create the complete strand. I believe my diameter is 5/64 relatively, since the actual diameter changes becase its not like a flat cylinder. Its a twisted strand so one spot may be 5/64 and another spot may be 6/64...kinda consfusing.
Anywho, i use them i my Kraken and Dome genesis with great success. Anecdotally, the SS wire needs to be wrapped with another medium to create a consistent diameter wick. Ive been using a sleeve of regular SS mesh for this, but some peope use cotton and hollow ekowool to sleeve it.
Basically you torch your wire for a minute or 2. Get it red hot glowing. Its thick so it can take awhile. Then torch your small maybe 1/2 in x 1/2 in piece of mesh.
Then wrap that mesh around the cable only one or 2 times. Any more than that an it wont fit the wick hole. The torch the combined wick and proceed as you would any other build!
I got precut ss cable/rope from KidneyPuncher.com
They are great because the lenghts are precut per your needs, and the measurements are spot on. They have countless lengths and sizes all precut for your needs definitely start there before you
buy a few feet and accidentally order the wrong size or slmething.
The kraken uses 5/64 i believe the rsst uses 3/32...the site will be more helpful tho. Good luck!
I personally find that ss rope wicks infinitely better than straight mesh in my builds, hardly any dry hit issues if even ever. As always YMMV....
