I know EXACTLY what you mean. One of my withdrawal symptoms has always been depression, which usually sets in about 2-3 weeks after quitting, even though I have always used NRTs in some form. I have been vaping since the end of February, but had my last cigarette on 4/1. In the last few days, the depression has set in. That convinces me that there's more to this withdrawal than nicotine. I, too, am trying to fight it. We can do this.

I'm in the same boat as you. are you vaping tobacco . I think the flavors will help me . I gave up analogs compltely I only had 2 drags off of one the other day and it was gross. but my mind tells me to have one . I'm just fighting it out. the worse was when I went to the store and saw all those packs I drolled but told myself they are gross. as you can see from my banner today is day 6 sat. will be a full week without an analog. My hubby and daughter just laugh at me when I snap they just drive me crazy lol. but everybody keeps telling me it will get better .

May I suggest that you stop telling yourself that you have given up smoking and that you can't have a cigarette, I know it seems stupid, but when we can't have something we want it more.
Why not tell yourself that you're not having a cigarette today, but that if you wanted to you could. Just try and take the pressure off yourself, try and relax (I know it's hard) maybe have a drink of water and a vape and then see if you really want a cigarette.

Hope this helps.

The withdraws are a bit better today and I havent killed anyone yet lol.
I am using a Tornado 3.7v with a 901 atty and 24mg chocolate liquid and some fudge brownie.
I dont like the tobacco flavored liquids that I have tried, all seem to taste like pipe tobacco to me.
I do glass work so I have to get to the shop and get some stuff made today for a event coming up next weekend.
This is one place that is hard because I normally take a smoke brake and think about next piece I am going to make.
So I am going to take my e-cig down there with me and vape away lol.
Maybe I will just stay so busy I wont think about it.
I will let you all know how that goes and Thanks again for all the help.
Hugs, Yabber

Well this post is a good first read for the whole thread (and the linked blog post). In short, not only are some people more addicted to nic than others, some people seem to need and benefit from other alkaloids and such in cigarettes/tobacco in addition to the nicotine and thus can suffer much worse withdrawal than others. Depression and the like even. Unfortunately, there isn't much concrete info yet nor many answers in the thread yet but like the hardware we vape with this is all still new an developing. Maybe someday there will be mainstream juice without just nic and flavoring.

For people that are really getting irritable and even depressed perhaps something like Chantix could help? It claims to block the "pleasurable effects of nicotine" but it's probably WTAs and the like too and they likely play just a big a role for some, at least in terms of awful psychological withdrawal. I'm speculating; will have to do more research.

Rar, hope you are doing better with the depression, I had a good day and the withdraws and cravings are not as bad.
It does seem to be getting better each day.
This is the first time in 30 years I have gone this long without a cigarette and if it wasnt for the e-cig I know I would not have been able to do it.
Cil - lol I didnt tell myself I could have one if I really wanted it and even took one out and smelled the cigarette.
I dont think I have ever really smelled a unlite cigarette, I mean really smelled one.
It makes a big difference after you havent smoked for a few days - yes I can say I can smell again already.
Just smelling the cigarette was enough nastiness to make me remember why I didnt want to smoke them.
And today I have been coughing up a ton of stuff - which someone told me I would do if I quit smoking.
And I dont have that heaving feeling in my chest today.
So all in all I have to say things are much better and even the dog begged to be friends again lol.
But the hubby is still tiptoeing around me for now until he is sure it is safe lol.
He quit smoking 8 yrs ago and understands, well somewhat - I think he has forgotten how grumpy he was when he quit lol.
Hugs to you all and thanks so much for just being there.

Ok a update on the withdraws.
I have decided to just smoke a cigarette if I start having bad bad withdraws.
And the stress of not letting myself have one went away. - Good suggestion from Cil -
I have not gone back to smoking but I have been smoking one here and there - once a day or every other day.
I dont know why I feel I need one and the taste is nasty.
This has to be better then smoking 2 packs a day though.
I am hoping that this will pass in time.
I can say when I wake up I dont reach for a smoke , I go straight to my e-cig.
Now if I can just find the perfect chocolate vape lol.
Thanks again for all the help.

Hi Yabber,

I dont know what mg you are vaping but for me I started with 36mg and every time a craving came I hit the vape until it went away. It didnt take me long before i had no craving for cigs at all. I smoked 2 packs a day for longer than you did. I have been smoke free for over 2 years now and happy never to put a cig in my mouth again.. Your nic, although you didnt say what you are vaping might not be high enough to get you over the cravings.. Hope you make it.. Hold on, At least you arent smoking as much as you were. The cravings do leave. For me it was about a month and then freedom.

Same as the first poster said, I've always heard it only lasts a week. You really shouldn't be going through much of physical withdrawal because you are still getting your nicotine. But, there will be a lot of mental which is what I'm experiencing right now on my 3rd day. I know there's other stuff in cigarettes we're addicted to so that's probably what we're feeling, just hang in there.

I smoked a pack and a half a day, today is my third day smoke free, and I just have the occasional craving and need for a cigarette but no physical withdrawals at all because of vaping. I'm not discounting what you're saying as everyone is different, but I do know if you do have light withdrawals and bad cravings it only lasts for about a week so I just keep looking forward to every new day.

Like someone else said, as soon as that craving comes i just start vaping away and I slowly forget about the craving. Hang in there, I know you can do it!

For me, most days are still a challenge. I have lots of stress in my life now and frequently feel sorry for myself. Sometimes I tell myself that smoking will make me feel better and probably, initially, it would. I have 1/2 pack of analogs in my desk and I'm tempted everytime I see them. My husband still smokes. I have had several "Quits", some lasting for a couple of years or more. I know myself....I am not one who can have one analog...I want them ALL. Yes, it's difficult, but with the e-cigarette, quitting is not impossible. It's difficult, but not impossible. I feel it's the best chance we have. Yes, there are cravings, some awful for some of us, but we need to prepare for them...vape more, vape a stronger nicotine level, distract, etc. Anything! But my opinion is "JUST DON"T SMOKE". Just my 2 cents.:vapor:
