dna 40 has the same dimensions but it has some electronic components that are bigger or taller then the 30, and we need to change the parts that hold and fix the DNA inside of the tube.

I also think you may have to redo the wiring as well. Nonetheless, for a 'upgrade job' (replacing the 30 with a 40) I don't think it is a worthwhile effort, both cost wise and for the time.

the 40 is the same overall size but the big mosfet on the rear of the chip is much larger on the 40 than it was on the 20's and 30's, also the wiring terminals are in different places on the new chip, so on something as tight as a tube fit I'm imagining the internal carrier will need quite a bit of altering to facilitate these changes, that's what's meant by needing new interior parts, the 40 is not identical to it's predecessors

edit: oops, missed the replies above

Only if we provide the linterior parts and a video on how to do it.

Please do. That would be awesome. I don't want to spend another 250 euro and not end up using this one. Another option might be if you sell just the tube that contains the chip as a replacement part.

We will find a way after we finish the Chalice and the GEM
Thanks, this is very good to hear. I'm trying my best to wait for the WE/WAEIII with the DNA-40D. It's nice to know if I succumb to the curves of the WAEII, there's still hope for temperature control!

Would love if the carrier could be purchased as a separate item - wanting to make a one off tube mod for myself with a DNA40 - lots of design issues floating around in my head :) Biggest problem is sourcing nice looking buttons and figuring out how to get it all in there :( Maybe I'll just go the other way and do a 26650 mod so I have lots of room :D

PM sent to Mark, as well as email through his web site....

I was using an atty with a very short and nearly recessed 510 pin, which was really having a hard time making contact with the 510 of my WAE2.... Well I ended up messing up the 510 pin on my wizard! By unscrewing it so far as to try and make connection with that recessed atty pin, when I tried to screw the WAE2 510 back down and it wouldnt budge... so then I unscrewed it a little to get it moving, well the center brass screw part came out of its brass bushing that fits inside the top cap, and ALL attempts to get it to go back in would not work.......... The threads on either the pin itself or the little brass threaded bushing have gotten all messed up now... As a make shift solution to continue using my WAE2 I ended up just kind of pushing the 510 screw (think press fit) back in to the brass bushing thing, to the point where it doesnt fall out, but doesnt screw in or out either....so now my WAE2 adjustable pin has been damaged........... I am sure its an easy fix, all I need is that whole little brass assembly which just pushes in to the top cap, its like a screw and nut kind of deal..... now just waiting for Mark to get back to me.

On a side note, that 510 adjustment should be made to be adjustable from both ends..inside and outside.... that would be a great addition IMO.

We have to tell you that the GEM will not be ready until the end of the year, due to some major production issues.
We will try to have it in February.
Sorry about this delay.

Sorry about that!
I am sure you will solve the problem and will release another wonderful atty!

In the meantime, we will focus on the Chalice III !

Keep us informed MB!

Have nice day and great job MB !

Perfect...will leave the g/f a note for Valentine's Day (who wants chocolates when you can have a GEM)!

Guess this'll have a knock on effect on the DNA40 versions of the Wizard and WAE, too.

Thanks for the news MB...looking forward eagerly to the new atty.

Mark,
I couldn't like this post. I'm not good at waiting. ;)

That said, thank you very much for being up front and letting us know about the delay. I absolutely appreciate it and applaud you for not releasing this GEM until production issues are resolved. As frustrating as it may be for me as a consumer, I know how hard this is on the business side. You can't be happy either.

All the best. I'll be waiting.
WH

Thank GAWD! I have time to recover from Christmas to save for the GEM!

Ha ha! I usually tell my husband not to get me jewelry for Valentine's Day. This year I've got a GEM picked out. He doesn't have to worry about what to get and I get what I want. I call that a win-win that makes us both happy!
