% wise.

The easiest for me is to count in drops.
1 ml of juice = 20 drops.
10 ml of juice is 200 drops.

5% of 200 drops = 10 drops.

So if you start with 10 ml, you can add 10 drops.
Start easy, don't mix too many different flavors.

Maybe 2 flavors or 3 max.
Think of flavors that you think might taste good together.

Good luck, and don't forget to steep the juice.

After I made the juice I put it in a little bowl with hot water, let it cool down while sitting in the water.
Shake it and put it in a dark place.
I shake it everyday, and want to let it steep for about 3 weeks.

Oh yeah how could I forget shaking. I shake it when I make it, I shake it before I fill it, and I wiggle and giggle it under the faucet.

Sounds like 50's song. lol

Agreed, I taste everything right after I make em (pre-steep). I just put a few drops in an atty and see how it is. Sometimes I can tell right off that certain flavors are too weak or too strong. Sometimes they taste awesome without steeping. Plus this gives me a baseline so that I know what progress or effect the steeping has on the original mix.

We should think about doing a DIY recipe contest! We could have categories for flavor types (tobacco blends, sweet blends, fruit blends etc). We would each post our recipes, then replicate each recipe at home, and then vote on who's is best.
Of course this would require all of us having the same flavorings. But just an idea!

I like that idea, would be best after I order some more flavors lol. Sounds like it would be fun though, and the winner gets a custom e-juice mad scientist avatar! lol

Just 5%? Is anything more too strong?

I don't like to use too much ry4, you would think if something is tasty more would be tastier and that's not the case. I found out the hard way lol. At least with the double ry4, the bottle I have right now I mixed too strong and it has an unattractive musty taste behind it. Little goes a long ways with some flavors, some you could pour a percent of the flavor bottle and get away with it and others you have to be careful how many drops you use.

I dunno? I tried it at 5%, and I liked it, so that's where I'm keeping it :D

I really don't like to add much more than 10% on flavors, unless they're there to help the potent flavor.

One example: Black Honey Tobacco 4%
French Vanilla 10%

The vanilla is large to help round out the tobacco. I love this blend, it's simple, but it's in my daily rotation.

Hey guys - I still havent had time to DIY - just got back from Austin - work work work. With the long long long weekend coming up (will be off from Wed - Monday) I am sure to DIY. Since I tend to vape 100% VG (except in the flavors) - and not sure if to mix abt 10% vodka or water. Am confused about the flavors - some are Ethyl Alcohol/PG, some are Ethyl Matol/PG, some Glycerine/Ethyl Alcohol, some PG, One is PG/Alcohol/Triacetin??? PG/Water and VG. These are all from WL - most are TFA and some are FA. Plus I have several tobacco flavors from FA which I bought from myfreedomsmoke.com. Any recommendations of water vs vodka or do 5% each? Thanks.

PS - I would post all my flavors - but I think that would take a bit of space - have about 40+ - yah I know that aint much....:glare:

Does your honey tobacco flavor have a real floral note like flowers? I bought honey concentrate separate to mix with tobacco myself and it has a strong flower like taste.

Not in the least. If it did, it would of been flushed down the toilet. I don't play the floral game :D

It's very smooth, and I can see why John describes it as a pipe tobacco. Don't let that dissuade you from trying it, I never thought I'd enjoy a pipe tobacco, but this stuff is pretty decent, in my opinion.

I always put at least 5% water in my mixes, taste really clean plus we have the best well water. I never tried vodka because well have you ever inhaled the fumes off a vodka bottle (gag) lol. Not knocking anyone who does use it or anything as I'm sure in dilution isn't bad, but I do notice the vape feels healthier/cleaner with 5-10% water for me as I'm an all VG guy myself. I can't handle PG at all, makes my lungs ache in a scary way but I can handle what's in flavoring and I think the water helps that too. Just my 2 cents.

I loved pipe tobacco, and there are sooo many flavors of pipe tobacco and most of them are bad lol. Before i stopped smoking I found a rich vanilla that I loved so now I need the honey tobacco flavor lol. Yeah I don't know if the honey concentrate needs to steep or what but it's floral. Kind of a big let down, hope it goes away after a few weeks steeping.

Thanks Mack. Not sure of the thread now - but an OP was talking about mixing vodka and flavor and leaving tit overnite to steep - supposedly quickens the steeping process - was wondering if any other mine were alcohol based flavors. Also was wondering if any were made from something that sounded weird - like Triacetin - what the heck is that?

Ohhh I bet it evaporates as well, I might try it someday. I have heard of triacetin, got this off wiki.

The triglyceride 1,2,3-triacetoxypropane is more generally known as triacetin and glycerin triacetate. It is the triester of glycerol and acetic acid, and is the second simplest fat after triformin.

It is an artificial chemical compound, commonly used as a food additive, for instance as a solvent in flavourings, and for its humectant function, with E number E1518 and Australian approval code A1518. Triacetin is also a component of casting liquor with TG and as an excipient in pharmaceutical products where it is used as a humectant, a plasticizer, and as a solvent.

Triacetin can also be used as a fuel additive as an antiknock agent which can reduce engine knocking in gasoline, and to improve cold and viscosity properties of biodiesel.

In a 1994 report released by five top cigarette companies, triacetin was listed as one of the 599 cigarette additives. The triacetin is applied to the filter as a plasticizer.

It has been considered as a possible source of food energy in artificial food regeneration systems on long space missions. It is believed to be safe to get over half of one's dietary energy from triacetin.
