I haven't been online for about a month, since I don't have the Internet except for the library after moving. I just finally came online today and checked my favorite e-cig site, PureSmoker.

I'm confused. All they have is the Prodigy model, which looks nothing like the e-cigs I'm used to and looks nothing like anything I'd want to use.. I've been using the DSE901 and that's what I want to stick to. I'm hoping they don't replace them on a large scale because part of the aesthetic of smoking cigs or e-cigs is the shape/weight distribution/etc..

What is the prodigy? Why is it so expensive, so big, and how does it work? I haven't found a review of it on here. And how long does the part last? It seems inconvenient.

What is the prodigy? It is a Pure Smoker product. Why is it so expensive? People like profit. Why so big ? I guess it was the only size that worked , and how does it work?No clue.

It looks huge I dont use my 801 for this fact the Prodigy looks bigger in the diameter. Really the question is why people need more smoke I can take the E cig I use and drag for 4 seconds and have enough vapor and throat hit to satisfy me.

i'm opting to stay away from the prodigy for now also , because of the reasons you stated above.

someone correct me if i'm wrong. Essentially it will be a manual switch device with a VERY long lasting battery. It will use generic atomizers 901 and 801 right now with the promise of a 510 adapter in the near future

the extra battery power promises bigger vapor and bigger throat hit. which i am both a big fan of , i would just feel awkward sucking on a flashlight looking thing out at the bar.... call me shallow if you must

How often do you change batteries? If one of your batteries dies, what does it cost to replace it? Can you get your battery replacement anywhere or only from an e-cig supplier that may or may not have them in stock?

Changes to the design of the Prodigy have it running at 5v, for both 801 and 901 atomizers. This gives you more power than a standard battery, and longer battery life. It'll give you pass-through type power on the go, and have interchangeable adapters for the various atomizers.

Gone are the super-high capacity 3.7v 18650 batteries, though.

Sorry, but that thing is huge and kinda ugly. 510 with PCC is decent enough for me. That shouldnt be called a ecig, more like a mini fogger. But then again, I bet it kicks ....

cha0tics0ul,

Your post today bumped this old thread toward the top of the forum. I was reading these posts that didn't make any sense to me (Elendil saying it was only in preorder, GrimmGreen planning to stay away from it). Then I noticed the dates of those posts.

If you were to ask incineradma's question (from May) today, those folks would give you very different answer.

Virtually all hybrids (such as the Prodigy ... and many others) look nothing like an analog cigarette. However, it does indeed kick .... I well remember my first impression of the hybrids - just like yours. But, within a month, I purchased the Prodigy (and am glad I did).

You say that the "510 with PCC is decent enough." After a while (and after reading rave reviews about the hybrids), you may start to get restless. Ironically, I'm currently in a retro phase, spending some time vaping my very first e-cig, the KR808D-1. And I've never given up my DSE801 penstyle. Each has a place in my vaping arsenal (e.g., the Prodigy is a bit klunky to carry around).

Check out Part 2 and Part 5 of my Wonderful World of Vaping illustrated guide for more information about the hybrid category of PVs* and how they fit into the spectrum of devices available.

* It does seem more appropriate to use the term PV (personal vaporizer) rather than e-cigarette, when talking about these big guys.

BTW, Welcome to ECF!

Yes this thread is a little outdated.

I'm in agreement the Prodigy is huge and it looks like a drug device. My wife and I argue because she can't stand the look of it. Says it makes me look like a drug user.

Where the Prodigy is unique is that it has a resistor (or something like that) that moderates the voltage downwards. So that you are vaping at 5V.

Many feel that 6V is too hot and the normal 3.0+ is not hot enough so the Prodigy is designed to hit a sweet spot.

When I'm home in front of my computer and not around other people I use the prodigy and enjoy it tremendously. The amount of vapor a high voltage device creates is much much more than the lower voltage devices.

It uses two Tenergy Batteries that are easily obtainable and lasts a long time.

Final summation Big Clunky, wouldn't want to use it in public,Long battery life and a very satisfying vape.
