Hope everyone had a great Halloween!
Glad you like the pictures.
Next time I am taking pictures I will take a few of the picture box.
For the old box I used a old egg crate. Used a black t-shirt on the inside held in place with a metal coat hanger. A 12x12 black tile on the floor which also held down the shirt. A white plate sat on top of the crate with a little hanging off the edge. I clamped 2 clear incandescent lights on the side of the crate and bounced the light off the plate which reflected down onto the mod but kept the back of the box dark. I found that the problem with this design was having the light to close to the mod even though it was reflected. It played tricks with the CA and the acrylic and I am still not sure why. I even tried different bulbs and reflecting it off of just the shirt which didn't help much. The camera I used in the old pictures was my Cannon Rebel XTi with a open lens.
On the new box I cut 2/3 of the top out. The light source is the large florescent light above my lathe. The light shines down pretty bright from about 3 feet up. Having the light source ~3 feet away does not play tricks with the CA and acrylic, I still not sure why but it works. Having 1/3 of the top still covered keeps the back of the box in shadows for a back drop.
To the Cannon I added a circular polarizer over the lens and put on my sun cover to keep any light off of the lens. I set the camera on a tripod because I don't have much room on the bench. The camera settings are time delay/mirror lockup(so the camera doesn't move as I push the button), 5 sec exposure, F25(so everything is in focus), ISO 1600 and White Balance is Tungsten light 3200k.
