Oooo I know what you mean now.
It is a chunk of burl that burlsource sent me for pictures. The last set of pictures was Jarrah burl. This set of pictures is Coolibah burl.

Thanks, I was showing a picture of the cocobola tank and they ask me about it and I said I would find out for them.:D

Yes it really did come out nice.

I need to make a third gogo for Eric. The first was supposed to be burgundy but it came out purple. Needless to say it was not really what he had in mind. On the second attempt I used Box Elder Burl (red). Once turned it was leaning toward the pink side. Again probably not something Arnold would want to vape in public. :D
3rd time is a charm...... I hope. I am going to try the Box Elder Burl (black/red). Hopefully the third one will turn out right. :toast:

Omg, Big Screen D! your wife is gonna FLIP over that blue mod! so dang cool looking! Something about that wood... just reminds me of 'starry night' painting. The deep blue with the pops of oblong yellow. Gorgeous!

And I love ALL of them, but I am going nuts over that XL3 in cocobolo...... man. Off to check prices to see if there's any way to swangle that into the budget. I want my wooded indulgence like crazy, but that one would keep me happy in the meantime till I can swing it. lol I've gotta get my charger and some batts, anyway. ;) Crossing fingers! lol

And Eric.... 2 things... First of all, when you're signed into your account and you put stuff in your cart and don't check out right away, does it empty cart? That just happened to me, and I was surprised. Not sure if its an anomaly or if that's the way it usually works.

Also, I need to order a few sizes of batts, but want to make sure you aren't sitting on inventory of the other ones I need, before I go elsewhere for them.

The ones I need that I'm not seeing on the site are (all in IMR< flat top, no button), 14500's, 18650s, 18350s (I see that you have 18350s, but they're out of stock). Just wanted to make sure those really don't exist before I spend elsewhere. Cause you KNOW I don't like having to do that. rofl I'm definitely getting charger and some other stuff from you regardless, though.

Here is a video of LordDavon gently testing the durability of the CA finish on a XL3 Mini in Big Leaf Maple Burl

Thank You LordDavon for the contest, the review, the CA durability test and all of the time you spent!

Also please note that the wood under the CA finish is stabilized burl. Stabilized wood is very dense which I think contributed to the CA finish not fogging over.
Standard wood is softer which makes it more vulnerable to the CA fogging over when hit hard. I believe the fogging of the CA happens when the wood is hit hard enough to indent the wood allowing the CA finish to pull away from the wood.

Thanks orachel! Yep, she is already mailbox stalking. Poor thing, I should tell her I have three other packages that will be here before hers.

Know what ya mean about that Cocobolo. My eyes are drawn to that wood every time I see it. Hope you can swing it!

Be honest, how surprised were you when I gave it a gentle shake.

Truth be told, that was the 3rd time I did that... and it still looked great. :)

My lathe will be down for about a week :(
This is going to delay current custom orders and cause future custom orders to take longer than normal.
I am going to try and pull the cone off of my fathers Oneway live center and see it is will work on my live center. I do not hold a lot of hope that this will work but it is worth a try.

On 05-04-12 the live center on my lathe broke. With out this piece the lathe will not function for turning e-cig mods. I was aware that the live center was failing and placed a order with Grizzly on 04-23-12 so there would not be any delay in production of wood mods.
I used Paypal for the payment method with Grizzly. Even though my bank account is linked to my paypal account they failed to release the funds to Grizzly. Today I checked the below email from Grizzly to check for a tracking number only to find that Paypal failed with the transaction. I called Grizzly and payed with my bank card. The new live center will be shipped UPS on Monday.
I am also to blame for this delay as I should have checked the email "Grizzly Order# 4069913" just to make sure everything was alright instead of just assuming that they were confirming my order and ignoring it until this point.

I apologize for the delay and any inconvenience this has caused.

Gosh, Lewis, I'm so sorry! Nothing like a big honkin unexpected fly in the ointment to really throw your schedule out of whack. Thats no fun at all, I'm sure. I'm not one waiting on a custom order (not yet, anyway! lol) but I can tell you that its not at all unusual for people to wait 2 and 3 months for custom wood mods. And honestly, that's conservative with a lot of vendors with a waiting list. I wouldn't worry too much, aside from your inconvenience factor. ;) I don't think they'll take after you with the tar and feathers, just yet. lol But if I were you, I think I'd take a nice vacation, because I have a feeling you're gonna be hopping with the demand for your gorgeous creations for as long as you wanna keep turning em out.
