okay, from what I can tell, the 14500 is the same diameter as the 14650, but is a shorter battery. Here are a few tube mods that I dug up around the web that use 14500s. All vv, I think... I do have a couple of the batteries that I could measure, if that would help?

Provape 1 | Provape-1 e-cig mod reviews
Alpha by AltSmoke e-cig mod reviews
14500 Tube Mod - Mod Maker Sales - UK Vapers
T-1 & Super-Six (Discontinued) | The Vape Break Room

Otherwise, I will look around for something intriguing that will work on a 14650. Do you have a new 'available woods' list?
I love, love, love my Indulgence, but want a smaller one now, too. I rather doubt that I will ever even use a matching wooden drip tip, but I want one so that I have it. Sounds silly, doesn't it??? Lord help me!

~Tiger

I don't think having matching parts just in case you later want one is silly at all. Once the chunk of wood is used up finding a piece that matches nicely is about like finding a needle in a hay stack :D

Provape: I can not make due to the switch in the side of the tube.
Alpha: I might be able to do the body if the diameter of the top and bottom are exactly the same. The curve in the middle of the battery tube would possibly cause a week spot in the center and my increase the likelihood of cracking if dropped. The plunge head I don't think I could make as it does not look like it comes apart. It also does not look like it has a cone which you wanted.
14500 tube mod: this one may be possible if everything unscrews and it can be disassembled to a blank open tube. It also did not look like a cone can go on it.
T1: may be possible but discontinued.

In the smaller range that I know i can make is a riva, gogo, EP 14650, xl3 mini
the EP 14650 and the XL3 mini are modular so you can replace parts easily. The 14650 is long like the indulgence just a smaller diameter. the XL3 mini is about as big around but much shorter. The wood is also not as wide in the middle due to the smaller arch.

here is a 14650 next to a indulgence thanks txtumbleweed for the image

Here is what I have in stock
Wood Inventroy - Gentry Woodturning
I think the box elder burl (blue) I still have, but I would have to check. I may have marked it sold thinking it was Big screen Ds wood even though he ordered his somewhere else. I do not see it in the list of units i have turned or in the custom orders.

Okay.... So, if the blue is available, it is 7.5" long, yes? That leaves about 2" left over. Is that 2" long/thick enough to make a tank to match? Yes, the wheels ARE turning and it is possible that Hubby may shoot me over this...

TIA,

~Tiger

Also for the xl3 mini (18350) you will need 1 1/2 x 5+. Sorry I forgot to mention it earlier
Well back to the lathe

Yes, box elder burl (blue) 1.5 x 7.5 should be enough to make a xl3 mini battery tube, cartomizer cone, DCT, drip tip and small chunk left over for a second drip tip if anything happens to the original.

Spouses do that, you should see the look on my wife's face when I spend hundreds on tools and wood with each order. I keep telling her that one of these months I will break even with my hobby :D

I got the contest mod back from Lordavon about a week ago. Today I got around to taking pictures of it before I apply the new finish. Also for anyone who missed the video here it is.
Here is a video of LordDavon gently testing the durability of the CA finish on a XL3 Mini in Big Leaf Maple Burl

Thank You LordDavon for the contest, the review, the CA durability test and all of the time you spent!

Also please note that the wood under the CA finish is stabilized burl. Stabilized wood is very dense which I think contributed to the CA finish not fogging over.
Standard wood is softer which makes it more vulnerable to the CA fogging over when hit hard. I believe the fogging of the CA happens when the wood is hit hard enough to indent the wood allowing the CA finish to pull away from the wood.

On with the pictures. The first picture will be a close up shot the following picture will be zoomed really close of the same picture.

damage1a.jpg

I am guessing this is from being dropped on the concrete. The damage is all of the way threw the CA finish and put a ding into the wood. There is also slight fogging of the finish around the damage

damage2.jpg

damage2a.jpg

Threw finish and slightly into the wood.

damage3.jpg

A very small area that fogged over instead of breaking off.

Another concrete drop I assume. The CA has been chipped off and the wood has a few good dings in it.

Now that you have seen the close up damage, here is what it looks like at arms length.

Once I remove the old finish, turn off the bad spots and apply the new finish I will post up detailed pictures of the damaged areas.

Lewis,

If you ever want me to beat the snot out of another mod, just ask. ;)

I am actually going to make one that is sealed with CA but won't really have a CA finish. I hope that this will not show damage as easy and over time the damage will all blend together. If this works then I can have a wood mod I can bring to work :)

I am going to have to wait awhile before I can pull the trigger on this one. Hubby not so gently reminded me, (he sort of yelled at me, actually), that it is passed time for Stormy Blue to go to the vet for his elderly kitty check-up..... which will include some very expensive blood tests so that I can get a PRN refill on his Lactated Ringers solution which he must have daily subQ administrations of since he has CRD....

Between that and my own recent hospitalization and those accompanying medical bills, the budget is sort of broken right now :/

It looks like it held up real good to the abuse. It looks like it was subjected to more abuse than it would normally take in a lifetime. I know I've dropped mine several times onto hardwood floor without causing any damage at all other than breaking my driptip.:2cool:
Hopefully the stainless steel rod in your new tip will help it stay in one piece.

I am sure I will still be making them when you are ready. I also have ideas for other cones and tanks that you may like better when you see them. If you do happen across a small modular unit I would defiantly be interested in trying to put wood on it.

If anyone receives a LG wood mod that has imperfections when you receive it please let me know so I can correct it. I do my best to send out as close to perfect as I can make, but one slipped by me.

I have also been made aware that I make the o-ring seal is to tight on the drip tips. I did this so that the tips would not fall out by accident, but I am afraid that I over did it. In the future I am going to try and send out 2-3 o-rings so the customer can get the exact fit they like.

Also if anyone has suggestions on how to improve the LG mod please fell free to let me know. I am always looking for input and ways to improve what I make.

The winner of the contest wanted a cone but I didn't have any more big leaf maple. This XL3 box elder burl (black/green) is now going to them.

Custom order box elder burl (black/red) I am not sure if I would classify it as red though.

I just ordered 4 slightly different size o-rings.
I also tried putting one of my wood tips in a stone tank and I couldn't get it in, but it fits a bit tighter than normal in my resurrector cartomizer that I have been using for testing and pictures

I think for now I will try to make it as tight as a normal drip tip or just a tiny bit tighter. Hopefully this will eliminate the problem and customers won't have to mess with swapping o-rings around.
If you get a drip tip that you feel is to loose or to tight please let me know and I will be happy to mail you a larger or smaller o-ring at no cost.

Txtumbleweed, I can just about guarantee that yours is tight. If it is let me know and I will mail you a different size.

Big Screen D, Thank you for bringing the tight o-ring problem to my attention :)
I drilled out a piece of redwood for your drip tip that will hopefully match your mod. When I get it finished I will send you pictures.
