okay, from what I can tell, the 14500 is the same diameter as the 14650, but is a shorter battery. Here are a few tube mods that I dug up around the web that use 14500s. All vv, I think... I do have a couple of the batteries that I could measure, if that would help?

Otherwise, I will look around for something intriguing that will work on a 14650. Do you have a new 'available woods' list?
I love, love, love my Indulgence, but want a smaller one now, too. I rather doubt that I will ever even use a matching wooden drip tip, but I want one so that I have it. Sounds silly, doesn't it??? Lord help me!

Also for the xl3 mini (18350) you will need 1 1/2 x 5+. Sorry I forgot to mention it earlier
Well back to the lathe
Okay.... So, if the blue is available, it is 7.5" long, yes? That leaves about 2" left over. Is that 2" long/thick enough to make a tank to match? Yes, the wheels ARE turning and it is possible that Hubby may shoot me over this...
TIA,

Here is a video of LordDavon gently testing the durability of the CA finish on a XL3 Mini in Big Leaf Maple Burl
Thank You LordDavon for the contest, the review, the CA durability test and all of the time you spent!
Also please note that the wood under the CA finish is stabilized burl. Stabilized wood is very dense which I think contributed to the CA finish not fogging over.
Standard wood is softer which makes it more vulnerable to the CA fogging over when hit hard. I believe the fogging of the CA happens when the wood is hit hard enough to indent the wood allowing the CA finish to pull away from the wood.
Lewis,
If you ever want me to beat the snot out of another mod, just ask.![]()
Yes, box elder burl (blue) 1.5 x 7.5 should be enough to make a xl3 mini battery tube, cartomizer cone, DCT, drip tip and small chunk left over for a second drip tip if anything happens to the original.
Spouses do that, you should see the look on my wife's face when I spend hundreds on tools and wood with each order. I keep telling her that one of these months I will break even with my hobby![]()
Hopefully the stainless steel rod in your new tip will help it stay in one piece. It looks like it held up real good to the abuse. It looks like it was subjected to more abuse than it would normally take in a lifetime. I know I've dropped mine several times onto hardwood floor without causing any damage at all other than breaking my driptip.![]()
I am sure I will still be making them when you are ready. I also have ideas for other cones and tanks that you may like better when you see them. If you do happen across a small modular unit I would defiantly be interested in trying to put wood on it.I am going to have to wait awhile before I can pull the trigger on this one. Hubby not so gently reminded me, (he sort of yelled at me, actually), that it is passed time for Stormy Blue to go to the vet for his elderly kitty check-up..... which will include some very expensive blood tests so that I can get a PRN refill on his Lactated Ringers solution which he must have daily subQ administrations of since he has CRD....
Between that and my own recent hospitalization and those accompanying medical bills, the budget is sort of broken right now :/

Hopefully the stainless steel rod in your new tip will help it stay in one piece.
I'm sure that is probably true and I'm looking forward to getting another one! I'm back home now so you can send it whenever is convienent for you!![]()
The original contest mod has been refinished and already has a new owner that doesn't know it is coming yet![]()
