Yes it is normal for this type of wood . Your welcome to send the mod to me I can sand it down for you if your not comfortable doing it .

Thanks for the offer master.. but I got this! ;)

Didn't take much at all to make it super smooth. Took the button out and stuffed the inside. Used 2 sanding sponges. Fine and progressive fine to finish it off and he'll yeah I know this is the cure for this baby.

Standing in a mineral oil soak right now.

How long do you think I need to repeat oil it till she's good?? Couple days on and off for how long?

Can use howards wax or there sun shield at the end.

Going to a wedding today in a few hours and would love to show it off. Though I've got many other beautys to take. UT now this one is extra special since the extra care involved..

Therapeutic my man! Could do that all day long. I'd have new woodvils up all the time hehe

Oh that mod is gorgeous. I love the look of it top to bottom. I came in late on reading about this. I was going to say maybe they put a protective finish on it, that didn't allow the oil to penetrate very good. Looks like you did a light sand, and oiled, and it is good to go. Amazing looking mod. Maybe you don't like the feel of the cherry wood? If not, I bet there are some who would love to have it. :hubba:

Got the Woodvil back from the Maestro's repair shop yesterday.
Screwed on the Nuppin' V2; filled it up; squonked it; and vaped it.
1st couple of seconds were good, then gets really harsh, then keeps sizzling after releasing the button.
I kept thinking, this is not the quality of vape I remember from a week ago.
Checked all contacts, etc. and flawless of course.
Decided to check/rewick this morning, even though I thought I did that in preparation for its arrival.
Pop off the cap and no wick, none whatsoever! I had torched the ReadyWick clean and forgot to put it back in after it cooled.
Yeah, I am that guy!

Question about a new cherry 2915 woodvil I recieved yesterday.
Soooooooooo glad you got a cherry finally!!! You wanted one so bad. Very glad you were able to get it more to your liking! My cherry straight from Rob, is pretty smooth, but I've never felt or seen up close any other woodvils. There are a few spots that I can feel some grain, but very slight. I've oiled it once a month, let it sit for 20 minutes to 2 hrs, depending, and wiped it off. I did let go sunbathing a bit the other day to try to bring out more red, but that didn't work. It is darkening a bit, so I need to get some howard's sun shield to put on it so that doesn't continue so much. I did skip one month in oiling it, but mostly it's been once a month since I got it.

1st couple of seconds were good, then gets really harsh, then keeps sizzling after releasing the button.
wow, surprised you had a good couple of seconds! Most of us have done something like that. Luckily so far with me it's usually been change the wick or the fill the bottle, wonder why it won't vape. Then see the battery sitting on the table. I do this a lot

Question about a new cherry 2915 woodvil I recieved yesterday.

Wondering if this wood normally feels dry? Feels really ruff to where it seems like it's drying out and needs oiling.

When I got it the seller put it in the priority bubble mailer blanket in a priority small flat rate box. When I pulled it out I could see the impressions from the bubbles outlined in oil. First thought was that it got warm in the box and the oil leached out into the bubble bag. I could wipe it clean with my hand.

Then I applied the howards wood cleaner to clean it off and then used Howards sun shield on it for a 30 min soak as instructed in the directions on the bottle. Cleaned it off after thst eith a micro cloth and it was still dry. I even noticed the wax soaking up in 10 mins.. I was thinking it must be really dry and soaked it up quick?

Then concerned I thought ok maybe it needs more oil so did a second treatment. Rubbed it off and baffled it's the same.. so late at night I was like screw it let's put some mineral oil on it and see if that will help. Let it soak for 15 mins and wipe and it seemed a hair better.

Now in the morning after its still dry.

Thinking that the way she is but seeing all the detail in the grain that got me all excited in the photos of the mod before... now there very faint to non exsitant.

The dark jatoba door is butter smooth.

Wondering if this needs an over night oil bath or something?

@SteamStack, are you sure that's dark Jatoba? I have one that looks identical to that one, and it was listed as "Caribbean Rosewood" for the door. Looks like the twin of yours.

I like the oring on your fire button. Nice mods!
I put o-rings on the firing buttons because they turn to the off position pretty easily, and the rubber of the o-rings gives me a better grip when I'm constantly turning it back to on. The brass was too slick and I couldn't tell if it was turning or my finger was just slipping. I think they look cool that way, too.

Ya know I was wondering about that dark jatoba wood as it don't look anything like jatoba. Hmmm.. I have the number of rhe woodvil.. let me look it up. He listed it as # 301. Love the feel of rhe door wood btw! Everytime I remove the door it impresses me with as solid and smooth it is.

Heh I need a caribbean rosewood reo next then! Hehe. 5 is not enough when your celebrating 6 years come the 22nd.
