I used a dremel and cut-off disk. I guess you could use a file instead if you had one. I also took the center post out of the 510 adapter and flipped it over so the flat part faces the atty/clearomizer.

i wonder if i could use the peticure - that's supposed to be a sort of dremel, it does my rottie's nails, lol
will take a closer look at the adapter later

How is it Tib? Do you like it?

keyz, give me a couple of days to answer - it works well but the bottom button feels real awkward atm

So as long as I dont stack the cheap batts I'm ok ???

should be ....... if not we are both in a world of trouble

btw i took the batteries of the charger after 3 hrs - the green light came on after 2 hrs
that was for the initial charge, after that you're supposed to take the batteries off the charger once the light turns green

Not stacking unprotected batteries is a start, a bit safer.
A set of good batteries will vape better, able to provide the power necessary easier, safer, longer lasting.

Unprotected batteries are like buying a fancy mod and
having it arrive with a bunch of scratches and dents on it. :)

I emailed and he recommend 2-Tenergy 3.0V cr123a/16340 900mah protected/

Tenergy has a couple types out there
Tenergy RCR123A 3.0V 750mAh Rechargeable LiFePO4 Li-Ion
Tenergy RCR123A 3V 900mAh Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery

the LiFePO4 are the latest, greatest but both would work and be safe.

Available at Battery Junction RCR123A Search

I ordered mine in a Buy It Now on eBay. 4 batteries and charger. 900mah. About the same price as Battery Junction.

The Sparkplug is a nice little mechanical mod. With the extension tube at 6v it's a beast. I like how they now sell just the mod for $20. This may be what I start recommending to people who are intriqued by my mods. $30 for a full kit can't be beat.

I've been using the Li-Ion (Blue) Tenergy's for over a year (I purchased a large supply) without a hitch but lately I've been coming across certain atty's and carto's that trip the protection circuit. The new dual coil carto's being one.

I'd suggest either the Yellow Tenergy LiFePO4's or even the AW LiFePO4's. I'll be putting those to the test soon.

WOO HOO !! Happy (and safe) vaping !!! :vapor::vapor:

I nearly bought one myself, but couldn't justify it, or at least until after the three orders
currently enroute arrive, and I use up some of my stash....

I wouldn't trust the manufacturers advice as they are including unprotected batteries with a mechanical mod. An unvented mechanical mod with no off switch no less...

Excerpted from http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/129569-rechargeable-batteries.html in the ECF Library.

Power rating for rechargeables

The critical factor for ecig mod use is the C rating (discharge current) in amps. The minimum possible value for safe and effective ecig use is 1 amp (= 1000mA) although ideally it needs to be higher. The ideal rating is 2 amps (2000mA) or better as an atomizer usually draws 1A to 2A.

Chart of C ratings vs size
1C or less for low-quality Li-FePo4
Assume 1C for generic Li-ion unless otherwise noted
1.5C for ultra/sure/trust/-fire Li-ion
2C for AW ICR (Li-ion)
3C for BDL 10440 IMR (Li-Mn)
5C for BDL 14500 IMR (Li-Mn)
8C for AW 14500 and 16340 IMR (Li-Mn)
10C for AW 18650 IMR (Li-Mn)
10C for AW Li-FePo4

Note:
Tenergy etc Li-FePo4 (small cells) - <0.55A (~1C - half an amp or less - not suitable for ecig use)

Max drain rate in amps is C in mAh / 1000 x C rating
Example: an AW IMR Li-Mn 14500 battery has a capacity of 600mAh. The C rating is 8C (it can supply 8 times the capacity). Therefore the max discharge current in amps is:
600 x 8 over 1000 (600 multiplied by 8 divided by 1000)
= 4200 / 1000
= 4.2 amps
This shows it has enough beef to safely and effectively run an atomizer - which some 14500's don't. In other words it is less likely to go into thermal runaway if there is an internal fault in the battery and is then used to power a device that draws a relatively high current such as an atomizer; and it will not suffer from excessive voltage drop when powering the atty.

Useful formulas
Amp draw = voltage / resistance
Example: a 5 volt mod is used with a 2.5 ohm atomizer - what current is drawn?
5 / 2.5 = 2
The battery must supply 2 amps.

Power used by atomizer in Watts = volts x amps, or volts x volts / resistance
Example: a 5 volt mod delivers 2 amps to the 2.5 ohm atty - what power is used?
5 x 2 = 10
The atty uses 10 watts
or
5 x 5 / 2.5 = 10 watts

I've been using mine for about a month now and really happy with it. I stumbled upon the site following an old video on you tube. The website is a little flakey but the product is great.

I noticed yesterday that they were including the thermo tube for free now so I ordered another kit. I actually was going to anyway for the extra batteries and to have spare parts. Although I don't know how I could break it if I tried.

I haven't received my new kit yet but stalking the mailman.

Do I get the thermotube if I order just the regulator? If in gonna be ordering my own batts on the side and not using theirs what should I spend the extra 10 bucks on

No, the thermo tube only comes with the complete starter kit. I don't think it can even be bought seperately, so that's the only way to get it.

At this site, the Thermo tube is not offered alone. However, the Thermo tube (just the tube) is available at LiteCigUsa.net for $39.95.
