Wow really close calls! So glad everyone is ok from those mishaps. I never leave batteries in any of my mods when not vaping, a pain taking them in and out but it is the safest. I also never vape in bed :) I do my vape right before hitting the sack and remove everything before quitting for the day. bnrk

Heres my experience...was cleaning up some dual coil cartos and after drying them by a window for a few days grabbed about 5 of them to try out. All of a sudden I got a burning " shock " in my hand and dropped all of them. What the hell was that?? Felt like an electric shock! What the hell!! Turned out a bee had got in the house and was visiting inside the carto and didnt like being disturbed! One red, painful finger!

Well at least the bee found an alternative to its smoking addiction! ;)

Yep, close call. Glad you and your house are okay. You may want to consider a Vape Safe fuse for your mechanical since alone, they provide no protection.

The fuse would have done nothing in this case. A fuse is designed for a dead short. (High Current) What puzzles me is why the battery got hot? Or did it? Did the atomizer heat the whole mod up?

I have been using AW battery's for longer than E-Cigs have been around and have tested every single battery he has ever sold. I tested his new IMR cells at 5 amps from full to empty and the cells never even get hot. Maybe the battery being in a closed tube would raise the temperature but I can't see it being much. I tested some of the Cheaper L-rider, EH, and E-Fest battery's last week at a continuous 3 amps which would be like vaping at 12 watts and none of the battery's went past 80 degrees.

Mechanical mods scare me and I won't use one. Basically shorting a battery with a low-ohm setup is, in my opinion, too dangerous. Protective circuitry is a must when dealing with these batteries, IMHO.

Driving is more dangerous...........nothing wrong with a mechanical mod......Unless you fall asleep with it :) It's all about responsibility......if your responsible your perfectly safe.

When i smoked - i never used to smoke in bed because it was rather well-known that you could fall asleep and wake up dead!!

I use a mechanical mod; i carry it in a phone case on my belt and never a problem. But here's my question: you have an eVic or Provari or whatever - but you have no idea until it happens if the circuitry in your battery or mod is working and there's no way to test it - it's a bit like car airbags!

Best to be safe and not tempt fate i reckon.

I only ever had a battery go postal when it was in a charger and that seems to have been a fault in the charger itself.
