Between Diacetyl and atty primers, I'm starting to grow more and more worried about vaping, and its effects.

I just bought a waffle flavor, but I'm afraid to even vape it because of Diacetyl. When I got my newer atty, I blew out all the primer and let it sit for a few hours to dry out.

I quit smoking analogs to get away from bad chemicals and future healthy problems, and turned to vaping. It's like a chemical war in my body. But, then again, people drink alcohol, do drugs, eat HORRIBLE food... so there's a flip-side.

The last thing I need is more health concerns because I decided to vape. But, I already feel huge, positive differences in my body since I began to vape, so I'm assuming it's healthier right off the bat than cigarettes. But "how" healthier is my concern.

As I said before, however, we humans find one way or another to abuse our bodies, I'm not as worried about vaping as I probably should be.

I'm also not nuts about some of the potential risks myself, but I do have a few thoughts:

1. I must have nicotine for sanity
2. I feel a heck of a lot better about vaping than I did about smoking
3. My body agrees with both of the two previous points

Vaping has some risks and negative side effects, but I will take it over smoking any day. Until I can kick nicotine forever, that is.

well i can promise vapping has fewer chemicals then the 4,000 chemicals an analog has , but even too much oxygen can be toxic so i guess it's all moderation.
I definitely agree, and so does my body! I can feel a much bigger difference not being addicted to a chem lab since I've started to vape.

I agree. My body feel so much better, and I can't quit cold turkey (seizures). I need to wean off nicotine. I'm already at 18mg from 24mg, and it's only been a month and a week (maybe two, time flies!)

I just hope they figure out all this mess eventually.

Hey, I wish you the best of luck! If you keep cutting down on the nicotine I bet you can quit everything over time. Another good option to think about would be flavorless e-liquid. I don't think I could do it but many others have. Or go with a good, diacetyl-free supplier. As for the primer, I clean that nasty stuff out completely before using a new atomizer.

I use Vaporbomb, and only a few (that has been found...) of their liquids contain diacetyl, and only the waffle flavor is the one I'm worried about. It's a shame, too, because I specifically bought it for my morning vape with my coffee when I'm driving to class. :( Ugh.

Where do you get your e-liquid, and is it diacetyl free?

If you really are worried, there are ways to lessen some of the risks. Avoid flavoring known to contain diacetyl or any of its substitutes- these would include the butters, creams, and caramels. Blow out and even do a cleaning/soaking of your atomizer before using it the first time to clean out the primer. Since vaping in general cannot be said to be safe for you, and really we're not even sure it's safer considering it's only been here in the country for about five years, each person has to assess the risks and make the best choices for them. Someone with a short smoking history and healthy lungs decide it's fine vaping anything and everything in moderation- enjoy the butterscotch but don't make it the 24/7 vape; someone that has smoked for 20 years may decide that it is better not to take any chances with the lung function they have left and stick to lightly flavored, non-butter/cream/caramel juices; and someone who has smoked for 40 years may decide what the heck, the lungs are trashed anyway so they might as well go full bore and vape caramel buttercream all day. Again, educate yourself and make the choices you feel comfortable with.

Best of luck to you. The alternative is??????? I have tried all the NRT's and they did not work. This is the longest I have gone without smoking in 28 years!! Is it 100% safe? not sure but I do know it works and I am down to 10 - 11 mg/ml juice. I was 1.5PAD smoker and I feel much better. There are some atty's out there that do not have primer. Try a Cisco LR 306 if you are worried about primer fluid.

Vaporbomb has said that they pulled all of their diacetyl-containing flavors. It's a long thread but check it out. That's my primary supplier.

I see you have also posted there recently. I trust them, personally. If you don't, there's always flavorless e-liquid.

Very true indeed. I've been using Peach and Blackberry/Passionfruit from Vaporbomb as my "main vapes". I'm not too concerned, but then it's always a little voice in the back of my head that says "HEY WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Moderation is key to pretty much everything. If a person doesn't moderate their sun-contact, they are likely to get some form of a skin problem/disorder/cancer, but it's not 100%. Same goes with food, water, and of course, smoking. I didn't smoke a lot of analogs when I did, and I think I evened out my vaping to be approximately the same amount of drags per day. I'll probably just keep an eye out and stay away from most buttery and creamy vapor flavors, but I do want to vape my waffle in the morning. Thank you for your information, it comforted me a lot :)

I believe they use FlavourArt flavoring and so there is diacetyl in some of the flavorings, although FA is in the process of reworking their formulas and eliminating it. And there are a lot of flavors that don't use diacetyl or its substitutes, so it's not a matter of either diacetyl or flavorless. And there are vendors that clearly label which flavors contain diacetyl too. OP just needs to be a savvy consumer.

i don't want to poopoo anyone's concerns, that's not my intention. but frankly i'm more worried about outside forces using propaganda like a diactyl scare to turn people away from vaping. yes, cigarettes are the worst but i could see people siding with "the devil they know" over giving vaping a try.

I'm not sure I agree with your opinion on this. If you deal with vendors that disclose, it's easy enough to avoid diacetyl. We should encourage new vapers to educate themselves completely, not just on whether a Buzz is better than a Chuck and whether PG provides more throat hit than VG. It wasn't until the 1960s, after a couple hundred years of smoking, that people realized cigarettes were not good. I don't think it's foolish to be careful with something that's been around less than 10. In 20 years if there have been no problems discovered with it, I promise that I will be the first one to come back and bow to the wisdom of those who said it was harmless. Until then, though, I think if we're going to call it a safer alternative, we should do our best to live up to that goal, and it starts with education.

I DEFINITELY agree with this. I really DON'T want to be vaping something that is so harmful that it's raising eyebrows everywhere. I mean I know vaping isn't 100% safe, nothing truly is 100% safe. But, it would be good to know what's going on.
