While I love my serpent mini for its form and production, refilling constantly hasnt been ideal and I've started looking at larger RTAs. Wondering if anyone who has the Serpent Mini also has the Merlin and what your thoughts are in terms of flavor production.

In terms of flavor I am unable to tell a difference. If I had to choose, the merlin probably has better flavor but I could be biased from shiny-itis (got the merlin after the serpent mini).

Its a great rta, can't put it down, had to get both ss and black versions.

Only con with the black version is the tint on the outside of the glass peeling after its first wash / rinse. Other than that its a superb single coil rta. Threw some prebuilt alien wire in there 0.4 and 0.5 ohms on either, vaping them at around 30-35W.

Yes, you get a 2nd tinted glass tank, IDENTICAL.

Was hoping it may be like the Avocado 24 where they give you the frosted and the clear. While it isnt a deal breaker I tend to use clear glass more often than not. I saw where others said you could "scrap" off the tint with a razor blade which is what I'll probably do.

Yup, its the same tinted glass as spare. Its cheaply made, my Aromamizer Supreme tinted glass from fasttech has gone through some washes and it look brand spanking new with no chipping.

I received my Serpent Mini today. I wanted to build it at work, but it seems that mine was packaged without a hex wrench. I looked through all of the spares bags and it is nowhere to be found. I'm sure that I have one at home that I can use, but I hate poor quality control. I don't often purchase Chinese-made atomizers, but this is the second one in a row where there were parts missing. Grrrrr.

What do you purchase then? You can PM me if you "feel" it will "derail" the thread.

I only use rebuildable atomizers and my favorite RTAs these days are the GP Spheroid and the By Leo Sophia and Calix. I vape for flavor and these are the most flavorful atomizers that I've used. I also have a KFL+ and some R91s, GP Herons, a Killer 705, Divers, and a few Genesis atomizers and a bunch of old RDAs.

My first RBAs were the IGO-L and the AGA-T, and I've purchased Fogger 3s and R91s, but it seems to me that practically all of the Chinese made RTAs that have come out in a while are geared towards sub-ohm builds and airy draws and that's just not my style of vaping. I like a single coil ~1.2ohm build and I guess that I'm a MTL vaper. It seems that most of these newer RTAs are dual coil and even of the few single coil ones that I've tried, it's hard to dial down the AFC enough to a point that I enjoy it. I pre-ordered a LEMO 2 and immediately put it on the Classifieds (too airy). I purchased a Theorem because the design intrigued me and I enjoy using it with a single 1.25ohm coil build with the AFC almost all the way shut. Although I can't actually build on my Serpent Mini yet, the draw seems a little airy but tolerable if I close the AFC all the way and I imagine that I'll be able to open it a bit when I put in a build with wick.

It just seems that I don't purchase Chinese-made RTAs that often and I definitely have a preference for authentic Greek RTAs. I like to be current and check out reviews of all types of new gear and I try to apply a filter based on what I know I like and dislike and I always appreciate original designs. Every now and then there will be something new that catches my eye and I figured that I would give the Serpent Mini a shot. It really sucks because I ordered it from FastTech and incredibly I got it in a week, but now I have to wait for a 30 piece US and metric allen key set to arrive to my local Home Depot since my current sets don't go that small, LOL. I'll try to be patient and not hold it against the Serpent Mini and reserve judgement for when I try it, but it's a little frustrating to receive new vape mail that you can't use.

Otherwise, I like the way that it looks and the simple design, but I would probably like it to be a little taller to hold more juice now that I can see it up close on a mod. I hope that I can use 28awg wire without any problems, and I don't understand how you can employ juice control without the tank accidentally coming apart in your pocket, but I expect to find out in about a week.

I appreciate the PM offer, but I think I managed to keep on on topic. :)

Thanks Firestorm. The Calix looks sweet. I'd say I don't put that kind of money into my tank, but after buying 4 GS-tanks because they're plastic and the threads wear out after 4 months, a Triton mini that's nasty, a Ehpro Bachelor Nano that's a leaky pain, and now a Serpent Mini arriving Thursday, I could and maybe should have. I'll look into these.

Did any of you get Serpent Minis that you couldn't get apart? I cannot get the top you unscrew to fill it un screwed. I'm wanting to get it apart for cleaning before use.

Ok, got everything apart except for the bottom on one. Man, they were tight. Think I'll put the one in the fridge for a bit.

I posted awhile back that my top cap seized up on the first day.

It came loose after about 20 minutes of frustration, and increasing worry.
That metal band at the top of the glass is just so damn small... hard to get a grip.
So I didn't quite get to the fridge process... I was close though. :p

It's in my mind every time I refill.

I did one of my usual wicks that I use for everything else, 30g Kanthal, 5wraps to get about 1.4 - 1.5Ω on a 2.0mm mandrel. I cut the wick length like I watched in a vid to just touch the ledge at the top of the juice channel. Maybe I need to use a little thicker Rayon next time.

I get my tails at least a little way down the channel, but if you just lay yours at the top and it works for you... maybe installation of the deck shifted one slightly.
That's also going to be a skinny wick at 2mm.

Even a small opening and... sploosh!

:p

You're building much higher res than I... are you using relatively thin juice as well?

I went in and rewicked it tighter in the coil, and leaking seems to have stopped. I also made sure that the tails were barely touching that top ledge. The coil is 1.5Ω. Man, it's a crappy vape compared to the dripper I was using, really harsh.
I vaped it with the air holes almost closed off to get the draw I like. More experimentation I guess. Maybe I should try a 2.5mm coil? On my KFL's, Erlk's, and STM's I've always used 2.0mm coils.
The juice is 60/40.
