My baby aliens are the fanciest I've gone on this thing, I wanna see some builds!
Outdid me lol, for now just using the included twisted wire.My baby aliens are the fanciest I've gone on this thing, I wanna see some builds!
26g might be possible if you manage to trap directly between the screw and the post. I always used 26g in the original serpents. This new design just had me worried so I grabbed some 24g and works beautifully you can lay it flat in the channel and the screw can pin it underneath with no connection issues. I might try the 26g with the next build just to see I've got about 4ft leftApparently there's a black serpent mini according to petal at wotofo.
Has anyone tried a 28 or larger gauge wire in this thing? Feels like it would be kinda difficult to trap the leads with anything higher than 26.
I did, if you look back in the thread I posted how I did it. I used 28g twisted.Apparently there's a black serpent mini according to petal at wotofo.

GeezBut that sort of makes the wire thicker no? Was thinking a single strand 28gauge in that thing, probably going to have to try when I return to Shanghai.

Thats what I thought as well. I guess it can't be a tootle puffer tank.
Oh you can Trap a 28ga or 30ga Wire. You just have to kinda Center the Wire on the Up and Down of the Slot when you tighten the Grub Screw.
If Wotofo had cut the Slots leaving Any Amount of thread in the Posts, even a Hairs Breath, it would have Trapped even a 36ga Wire. But one mine, one side was cut little Deeper. So a 28ga wire doesn't trap all that well by just Laying it in the Slot.
Pretty ingenious gonna give it a try soon. There's a trick I use where I fold the end of the leads with pliers. Gives the screw more to grab on to.
When I first started using TC I had to do the same thing with the 30g ni200 wire. Back then they kept making the post holes on everything bigger and bigger to accommodate the 22,24g stuff so I used to fold sometimes triple the wire in the post holes to make it work. Someone on here found some crimp on ends at a jewelry supply that pretty much did the same thing. Necessity is the motherhood of invention. There's a trick I use where I fold the end of the leads with pliers. Gives the screw more to grab on to.
I went ahead and ordered one. I have three original Serpent tanks...Love them!
Where did you get the black one from? Thanks!I got this sexy little beast today! I was a huge serpent fan when the originals came out, but I'm an even bigger fan now. This thing is everything the first one should have been. Just wish it had the same capacity or more. I've had it for about 3 hrs and already filled it 4 times. Fortunately my 24g SS came in today as well so I was ready to go with a coil. No problems with trapping the leads. Had to put another drip tip on the stock looked good but too short for my liking.
