Finally got em both going. The only con I have after this short usage is it can be a little difficult getting 30g wire trapped to secure with the grub screws. Some of that is my having trouble using the tiny allen wrench with my arthritic hands. I need to get a screwdriver type allen to work with. Going to have to go to Amazon, or ebay and look one up. If I continue to like these, I'll be needing 2 or three more :)

I did my first build on the Serpent Mini now that I have a hex key for the grub screws. It was a little strange as I felt like everything was reverse in terms of the winding of the coil and the placement of the grub screws. I use a Kuro Coiler and I wound the coil counter clockwise without any problems. I built a 2mm coil of 28awg Kanthal that came out to 1.3ohm and it was a PITA to line the wire up with the grub screws - this RTA is clearly made for thicker wire.

Received my Serpent Mini today. I saw on another website someone saying lighter gauge right handed/clockwise coils are easier to mount on the Serpent Mini, so that's what I did for my first coil tonight. Was a breeze indeed. 3mm ID 28awg Kanthal 1.5ohm. This way, with the legs coming down at an angle on the deck, the legs lined up perfectly with the grub screws. All I had to do was hold the coil with the Kuro Coiler and tighten the screws. It was a lot easier than mounting the stock counterclockwise twisted coil, where I had to hold it up in line with the grub screws, but I think both of you use smaller ID's so it wouldn't work out quite the same. Give it a go and see if it helps at all.

When the tank gets low, I taste the organic cotton more which reduces 'the capacity'. Anyone else experience this, or am I crazy?

I don't want to take mine apart to examine the geometry/dimensions, but... if I'm remembering it right, you're saying the legs hitting the outside edge of the coil mounts will have them in line with the screw heads.
I'm imagining the coil with an extra quarter turn (90 degrees) so it looks like an A-Frame roof (for example). It would be higher than perhaps they designed it for, but perhaps not too much, yes?

If so... a couple of practice rolls, and it might be easy to have one that all but just sits there where you want it... waiting for you to lock it in place. :p

Can't say you're crazy... I can't be sure what you're describing. ;)
The entirety of the wick sits inside the vaporization chamber bell... it can't affect the capacity meaningfully.
More detail please?

Probably closer to 100 degrees, and it's just above the air chamber. I knew the legs needed to come down, made it, there they were. Might not go as smoothly next time, but then again I've made things with my hands all my life, so who knows? I wasn't and won't be surprised.

If it was 'normal' you'd have to refill with a good amount of juice still in the tank. That effectively reduces the capacity, but like I said, it went away. Not only that but after it went away I noticed one fill hole wasn't releasing air bubbles so I had to rewick. Had too much, too far down. User error.

In case this hasn't been mentioned, the o-rings on the drip tip are too thick. If you replaced them with thinner o-rings from another drip tip it will go on and come off easier, still be plenty snug, and sit straight and flush. Was driving me nuts.

GREAT post, as I thought it was just mine. I got the black version with the plastic DT. I didn't mind the hard pressure fit, but thought it was ODD, that it would not seat FLUSH. The top oring had a small cut hanging off, which indicated to me it was a tad to thick, and getting cut. Before that I assumed there was a slight tapering inside the top fill hole, keeping it from going fully down. Not a big deal, but glad to know it's more common.

Funny, I also have the black version and mine had a small cut hanging off too. Wonder if the SS version suffers from this?

If you coil it, wick it, and then put some eliquid on the wick, screw the base on to your mod and fire it and blow on it until the wick is dry and then repeat that one or two more times you'll have clean taste almost instantly when you start vaping on it ;)

It sometimes still takes a ml or so before the cotton taste is completely gone after doing that but at least it won't take several tanks.

Thanks. I was just getting dry hits because only one side was wicking properly. Still waiting on yours?

Replaced the coil today after two weeks. Trying higher resistance build with 28g SS this time. Build came out to 1.3 ohms and its a very nice cool vape.

Trapping the 28g wire between the posts and grub screws was a little bit of a pain. But good to see that 28g also works well. Next time I'll try the 26/32g Clapton wire I have.

There's always the old school skinny nickel wire trick, I think it was mentioned upthread.

Leave an extra inch on each coil leg, then fold it twice and press together.
If you can get a twist in there without distorting the coil... even better.
Makes a nice lump of wire for the screw to bite into.
