Would you date a smoker?

I wasn't really sure about dating someone that is a smoker. But I went on a date about 6 months ago with a woman that is a smoker, and it didn't seem to bother me much. In fact, I kind of liked the smell a little bit. Even kissing was not that bad. The real problem with dating her is that she lives about 600 miles away from me. So that kind of put an end to it.

Just because of the simple reason that now i can smell how much smokers stink.

Interesting topic. I wouldn't have married my second ex if he'd have felt the way most of you do about smokers. He use to smoke but had quit long before meeting me. Apparently I had more to offer than the pitfalls of smoking. And no we didn't split because of smoking. We're actually still close friends.

My girlfriend smokes.... She smokes about a 1/4 as much as I did though. It really doesn't bother me much.

The only time it is a bit annoying is after a night with a few cocktails and more prevalent smoking, her breath can be pretty bad.

If hubby and I ever divorced, and I started dating again, I'd just switch the smoker on to vaping. I can be quite persuasive.

Seriously though, I'm 62 years old, and dating seems ill-advised. Cranky and set in my ways ...

But for the younger folk, a vaper dating a smoker is a conversion opportunity ...

Hubby has never smoked. We've been together over 25 years and the only time he's complained was when he had a cold. Then I didn't smoke around him. Its all about being considerate. However, before I met him, I had a guy refuse to even meet me because he had dated a smoker and he said the smell came up from her lungs when he kissed her. To each their own but if its simply a matter of bigotry... well, I wouldn't want to date them anyway because bigotry is what it is and would extend to other things... we would fight.

Great question! I hadn't considered this dilemma. I have wondered how a non-smoker would feel about my vaping tho. But I probably would date a smoker as long as they were considerate enough to smoke outside. While I vape inside. Oh dear, this could be a problem. Guess I'll just keep it simple and stay single.

on 1 hand it sounds like a recovered alcoholic dating an alcoholic but on the other hand Vaping does the trick and even next to smoker you don't feel the desire to have 1 .

I guess I don't mind dating a woman who smokes and even planned to ask 1 out but I am not sure because of the smell of cigs which I now hate .... Guess if things work out with her , the first gift is going to be an ecig

Actually it is completely different. I am a recovering alcoholic, 22+ years, and I would not date someone that has a problem with alcohol, at least not more than once.

But I don't see me turning down a date with a good looking woman just because she smoked cigarettes. If it worked out I'd try to get her vaping instead of smoking.

I work around people that still smoke, and drink for that matter. I don't desire cigarettes anymore. I haven't desired them for the last 4+ years but I had to smoke because of the addiction I had, have.
When I see people I work around taking a Cig Break I say "What another cigarette Break". Then I go inside and vape. No one drinks on the job, at least not that I know of.

Only if you are single with NO girlfriend. Once you have a girlfriend the wallet suffers. Once you get married, and she is a good woman with a JOB, you start planning for the future together.

I would date a smoker! Heck I smoked for over 20 years so who am I to judge a person based on that. As long as their not nasty with smoking. I have exes who stayed exes, no matter how much they begged, because they were just nasty with ashes among other faults. You shouldn't have to sweep ashes off your floor ten times a day or wipe around as ashtray 30 times a day because a grown man is lazy and misses the ashtray. I had one guy I dated years ago who would dump ashes in his shirt pocket if the ashtray wasn't nearby him so he wouldn't have to move. He was perfect in every other way but geeze.

You can always slowly infiltrate them with the positives of vaping. Eventually you might get them off stinkies and save their life. Who knows.
