Would you date a smoker now that you vape?

I agree with everything you've said except the Love being the most valuable emotion. I think the emotion of love is thrilling, fresh, full of joy, exciting, unnerving, unpredictable and etc. When I think of Love, I think it is the most valuable action we can take. Love the emotion is fleeting and uneven but love the action is enduring, powerful and memorable. Love in action is what make us at our greatest. Whether or not you are a person of faith, you have to admit that"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. " is one of the best descriptives of love in action. Love in action is what helps us to love the unlovable and suffer the insufferable. It's what raises us up as human beings.

I agree with all that -- but it has to be an action, rather than just a feeling, if it is going to "solve everything." When my husband and I had problems because of my extreme depression and associated problems, what worried us was that love might not be enough to keep our marriage together -- so, because we are not willing to entertain even the thought of our marriage not staying together, we went to therapy -- together. It was hard, we both had to make some changes... but 12 yrs later, we are still happily married; after 28+ yrs, we're still living proof that "for better or worse, in sickness and in health" really can work -- if you "work it."

But just saying "I love you" won't feed the bulldog, as it were.

There's not one belief/opinion in existence that anyone, ever, has come up with that's required/essential/needed for happiness or survival, the only two real essentials. Not one.

So....................I can stop stressing over Believing I must Breath to survive and be Happy? o_O

I wonder if the choice was between say 2 PAD smoker and staunch anti-smoker, what would people choose? Perhaps for added fun, it could be that the smoker will never become a vaper and the anti-smoker will forever try to get you to stop vaping, but never make it an ultimatum for the relationship.

As distasteful as I find the smell of smoking or smokers... I have to say, intolerant puritans are EVEN MORE distasteful. And control freaks who try and change my behavior to suit themselves... well, I'd say they call for the death penalty.

In a way it does.
But we all have our own set of rules we use, maybe unintentionally, to weed out the ones we don't want to interact with that are plain wrong and just stupid.
You have yours, I have mine and I bet there isn't a single one here who wouldn't have his or her.
Well, I won't date anyone with less than a 130 IQ because I can't handle such stupidity.
My wife of 20 years is right at 130 and it's tough enough as it is.

But I'd date a smoker, if I was free to do so.
My wife is very unlikely to give such consent though.

Smelling like stale smoke is pretty low on my list of what I give a crap about.
If she can cook up a storm, I'm gonna overlook a lot of things.
:D
Kate Beckinsale smokes, so yes, I would date a smoker. If Kate said yes, my wife would just have to get over it.
So yeah, just looked up Google images of Kate Beckinsale...
Because I trust your wisdom...

Wow, that's my dream girl right there!

Oh good Lord, I just looked it up...
The 30 Smartest Celebrities in Hollywood
A young Kate Beckinsale was singled out for her intelligence in grade school; her school reports cited a reading level of an 11-year-old when she was just six.

Now I'm smitten.
Before performing her notable role as Selene in "Underworld," Beckinsale studied French and Russian literature at Oxford University's New College, and still fluently speaks both French and Russian, as well as German.

My wife still probably would not give consent though.
But she is all into Pierce Brosnan, so maybe a trade could be in the offing.

So after getting all caught up in this thread...

I have noticed that a lot of guys have said yes, but their wives would not comply.
I have yet to see a woman in this thread say anything like that.

I don't know what that means.
It's just a weird observation on my part.
:)

I just gained a new respect for you as a person.
Which only adds to the respect and enjoyment I have long had for you as a poster.
:)

I'm gonna print that up and make it a Valentine's Day card.
I will, of course, cite you as the source on said card.

Women tend to have keener noses than men do. Some smells that drive me right out of my mind, my husband doesn't smell AT ALL.

This is just a "pulled out of my &$$" theory but, women, on the whole, get to be choosier than men.

I think this is along the same lines as "women know as soon as they get up in the morning if they're going to have sex that day." :D
