I'm really considering organizing a "vape club" kinda thing locally here in San Antonio. We're the 7th most populated city in the US (maybe 6th now) and I have never seen a single person vaping.

Granted I'm a recluse but I DO go outside and to work etc but still.

I was thinking about a private dining room at a local restaurant and advertising (hopefully) here on ECF (need to see if that's allowed) and at local vape shops (though we don't have many). (I seem to be parenthesis-crazy tonight)

Is this something any of you would go to? I don't mean MINE, though you're welcome to come but I mean in general.

I'd really like to make it a regular event, maybe monthly. I think it would be a great way to expose more people to ECF and CASAA and share stories and experiences, swap e-liquids etc.

Just looking for thoughts/comments. Pros/cons...

I just went to the LA Vaper's Club meeting earlier today (it's my 4th time or so), so funny you should post this. :) They hold it once a month on the patio of a restaurant. It's mostly industry, but interlopers like me are welcome too. It's been going on for a couple of years and has grown steadily.

Things they do right:
- They have an LA Vaper's Club Facebook page, and post the event every month to remind everyone
- They hold the event at a specific day and time almost every time (second Saturday of every month, with the occasional exception)
- They have a table where local vape businesses and juice makers can display their stuff, even if it's just business cards and/or juice samples
- They hold a free raffle for the stuff that local vendors/businesses donate. Today it took about an hour and a half to get through it all, there was so much stuff
- They have multiple people organizing the event and helping out
- They have someone taking photos the whole time and put them up afterward

It's a mixed crowd and from what I understand it can get a bit clique-y, but overall it's great. Some of the wait staff at the restaurant vape too. :) At this point they're up to about 80-100 people each time.

Anyway, just some thoughts, you should totally go for it. :) I've organized non-vaping-related meets in the past and it's always fun to meet up with people with common interests.

There is already a social group for ECF San Antonio vapers: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/groups/san-antonio-vapers.html

It's got 40 members; but, it's not very active. I'm a member. But, I always forget to check it. I don't get any notifications when anyone posts there. So, I usually forget it exists.

OK. I just figured out how to subscribe to the group. It shows the subscription way down at the bottom of the page, below all my other subscribed threads and forums. But, at least it does show up. Now, I just need to see if I get any kind of notification when someone else posts.

Anyway, I think a lot of us would like to get together. The biggest problem as I remember is deciding on a vape friendly place to meet. We didn't want to meet in a shop because we would be swapping juice and showing off stuff we bought elsewhere. That would seem kind of rude. A restaurant or bar would be better.

A facebook group worked well for where I live. I joined it in its infancy and it has blown up to over 300 members already in just a matter of months. We have held several planned vape meets and quite a few impromptu meets here and there. Almost every vape shop in town seems to have joined and keep us informed of the latest products and discounts. They have also held special raffles and vape meets exclusive to those in the faceboook group. It has been pretty neat to see the group grow. I would think you can create the same success quite easily in a town like San Antonio.

I wish someone would do that where I'm from. It's dead here! Nope, it won't be me to start one cuz' I suffer from social anxiety as it is. I just wanna show up in a back corner and check it out.

I might not even do that much, because I'd be the 5th wheel, I'm always the 5th wheel, and even when I might not be, I'm convinced that I am, and that being true, would probably talk myself out of going before I even thought I *might* go. It's safer at home, on a forum. ;)

It'd be way too far to travel/expensive for me to attend. ;)

I'm not sure she's checking this thread anymore. But, I'm still here!

I have a strange schedule. I'm only available Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. And, even then, mainly in the evenings. So, I probably wouldn't be able to make any get-togethers anyway.

Although, when ECF went down the other night, I started having the urge to meet as many local vapers as possible. It would be nice to have a network of local people.

I work nights and my nights off are Tuesdays and Wednesdays so a Wednesday evening is what I was planning for anyway :)

Plus I think that's a slow night for most public meeting places so a better chance to get them to offer a space for freeeee.

I think it's a great idea.
There is a club that does meets in my area but I am always at work for it so I have never got to go yet.
Some things that I would suggest, it's good to have consistency but change the day of the meet every once in awhile to maybe get some fresh faces that can't make it to the regular meet up night due to work schedules.
DO NOT write someone off because they are tattooed or pierced or appear young, some of us tattooed people are really not that bad.
I'm 36, am usually mistaken for early twenties, tattooed, have a family, own a house, work a full time job, spend countless hours with my son's cub scout group, and overall I'm not a bad guy. So keep it in mind that some of those people that might have the appearance of being one of " those kids" might just turn out to be someone that is a good addition to your group.
Sorry, That whole "those kids" thing always gets under my skin lol.
