So last week I quit smoking and changed over to some nicotine gum, do-able to quit smoking but not very fun. Two days ago I went out and bought my first e-cig at some local smoke shop, as I read the label on it now its a nicotek electronic cigarette. Its ok yes, but I am looking for something different.

After doing some searches on the internet I ended up on "ecigaddict" site and read through a bunch of his posts, which are just awesome by the way and eventually ended up here. I am reading through all of this wealth of information, and man its a ton of information, but I am thoroughly confused and overwhelmed.

All I am really looking for, I think, is one of these manual E-cigs that have a tank that I can fill up and puff away. Are starter kits the best for this? I would assume so, but which one is the best? I assume the "best" is based on personal preference but when it gets right down to it. I want something with a big tank, best vapor production with a big throat hit since I am so use to smoking analog cigs.

One thing I do not want is to have to spend $200-$300 or even more on junk when I can go right to the best from the get-go. Is it better to put something together then to buy a starter kit? I would have to think if you can get the basis down of a good batttery/charger and tank the rest i.e. the flavors for the tank, would be the only thing you have to worry about.

If i had to put something together for $150 to whatever instead of going with the starter kit thats fine, but at least I know im getting a good quality E-CIG.

I am sure something like this is posted 100 times a day but I just couldnt find an answer for it.

Thanks and im sorry if i am just going on and on and on.

KGO 1100 mAh 2 battery kit

Dual Coil Cartomizer Tank Kit

So there you go. That's under your goal price right?:vapor:You should be quite happy with that setup. I'd get some extra cartomizers and a drip tip just so you can try them out to see exactly what works best for you. Also, DON'T forget the juice!! :D Happy vaping!

Oh, add this to the list for refilling http://www.hoosierecigsupply.com/5ml-Syringe-and-blunt-18-gauge-needle-HEC061.htm

What you are going to find is that a cartomizer holds roughly the same amount of liquid as an eGo tank, and works far better.
This makes one of the many eGo style batteries and cartos a great starting point. As your knowledge level grows you will then be able to jump into the zany world of mods, carto tanks, and all the rest.
This looks to be a well thought out starter kit.

Pumas choice sounds like a good place to start from my limited experience, however the chances are that you will start with a kit and you'll end up tweaking your setup with parts and juices until you find your sweet spot. There really doesnt seem to be an ultimate setup that fits all, despite what some people will tell you. It depends on so many factors. Do you want to vape on the go or almost always vape in a comy seat or at your desk. Want minimum fuss or prefer to tinker. Big and bold or small and discreet. Many people on here treat it as a hobby, and a learning experience, and as such invest time and money along the way as they get into it more.

Excellent suggestion, tj99959! That starter kit is now going to become my recommendation to newbies also.

bobothewizard, I also concur regarding tanks. The engineering just ain't there yet, and so the tanks require constant and frustrating futzing to keep them working right, or even working at all. Cartos are definitely the way to go.

Also, MadVapes is one of the very best etailers out there: low prices, excellent selection, and fast and modestly priced shipping. They have it all! And, unlike most etailers, they have both good hardware and some really fine e-liquids, so MadVapes is truly one-stop shopping. Strongly recommended!

Welcome to ECF bobothewizard. Yes, we're very good at information overload here at ECF. But, fear not, there are many very experienced people that can get you pointed in the right direction as far as PVs are concerned. The kit I linked below might be a good place for you to start. One of the advantages of this particular kit is, as you will see, has replaceable batteries. Many of the "eGo" style kits do not and require you to replace the entire battery tube when it's time for a new battery. The other aspect of this kit, because it does use 14650 batteries, the nominal voltage is a bit higher than many PVs of this type.

Here's the tank kit from MadVapes~> Ego Dual Coil Cartomizer Tank Kit 2 tanks 4 tank cartomizers 2 eGo batteriescharger ect... for $59.99 plus shipping..they also have a good line of in house made e-liquid named TopVapor USA E-Liquid if you buy a kit from them you should pickup a couple flavors to try also..it wouldn't hurt to pick up a pack regular cartomizers to try also.

Two very good suggestions in these posts. Both are better than the eGo for a good beginner model because they both are 3.7 volt models where as the ego is only 3.4 volts. Both come standard with higher mAh batteries, also.

Hey, bobothewizard, and welcome to the forums. Being overwhelmed is completely understandable--trust the vets here to lead you in the right direction. You're not going to understand a lot of the terms at first (I'm STILL working on them, myself :?: ). Best advice without using a lot of jargon--trust a vet to point you to a good basic starter kit and a few eliquids. As you get your vaping experience under way, bookmark these forums, and check back frequently, getting yourself immersed in the world of vaping.
Along the way--enjoy yourself! Good luck!

These are quite good, easy as pie to use, and very cost effective.
GV VISION ExTReMe & Ultimo : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

I fill mine (The 3.5ml Extreme size one) once a day. Easy to do, just pull the cap and drip in liquid.

These come in sizes from 1.5ml up to 5ml with 510 threads and have a moderate throat hit, very good flavor, and they last for weeks. They'll work well on any battery from 3.4v to around 4.5v so that covers all the eGo and Riva models. They are superb on 808/901 batteries as well, but you'll need a little adapter.

If you want a little more throat-kick from a 'warmer feeling PV' you might prefer Low Resistance cartomizers with polyfill in them. Popular vertical coil cartos are Boge and Smoktech. Popular horizontal coil ones are Kanger. These usually hold from 1 to 2 ml of liquid each. It's good to keep the vertical coil type wet with fairly regular dripping. You can also 'punch or slot' these and put them in larger tanks.

These days there is quite an assortment of regular and giant sized cartos to choose from, with single or dual coils. Far too many for me to list them all, but examples are the Echo, and eGo/Mega Dual-Coil cartos.

Dual coils offer a superb lung hit (twice as much coil in them touching and vaping liquid, but at lower heat per coil). These are worth a try as well, but you'll want to make sure the battery you choose is approved for high current cartos. I.E. A 1.5 Ohm dual-coil carto on a 3.7v battery can pull up to 2.5 amps.

    Bottom and top feeders:
These have a pretty big fan base. They accept a regular atomizer and a juice bottle or pump button.
Here are a couple of links for factory made ones:
    Boge Revolution V2
    Vapage VMOD
    The REO
    A Top Feeder Example:

Great starter, bobo. I suggest you get more cartomizers for your tank, though. You can reuse the tank, of course. But, the cartos only last a week or two. You can (and I suggest you do) get prepunched cartos made for your tank. Otherwise, you are set for a while. Then comes finding your special all day juice. The 50 ml of juice will last a while, depending on how much you vape. Not getting a slim battery is the best thing you did. The KGO battery is definitely a good starter. If you ever decide to move to mods or something, the KGO is a better backup than any slim battery model.

Others have suggested that you get some non-prepunched cartos & I agree. There may come times when it's better not to have a full tank of juice. I have a cartotank on one battery with my all day vape in it. I also keep some lower nic in a carto (on another battery) with lower nic for when I'm driving. That way when I'm mindlessly vaping, I don't overdose!

Good luck in your quest to put the "stinkies" behing you.

Hi there! Welcome to ECF! I too am trying to quit smoking. I started off chewing the nico gum and using 0 nico in my ecig..that didn't last very long because while you're chewing the gum, any flavor from the ecig is completely deadened. Even at that it dosen't taste as bad as an analog! YUCK! Never did like the taste of them! One of the reasons I want to quit in the first place! lol! But anyway, just know that if your chewing nico gum you won't taste any flavors from the ecig. What I've ended up doing is going on the patch for awhile until I get some nico to add to my juice...when the nico comes in, I'll get off the patch and start weaning myself down off the nico with the ecig. I've heard ALOT of success stories of people quitting this way...and it's the only way I haven't tried!! lol! Oh and while I'm not very experienced with this I got the eGo..with the manual battery. It's a 510 set up which seems to be the best route to take as it's so common and you can add to it later if you want. Would like to keep tabs with you if you'd like,as I'm trying to make some friends who have the same common goal as myself...so once you get 5 posts, click and add me as a friend k? Best of luck to you!!
