what a wake up call. started with first clearo on aug.20. I guess I am getting my sense of smell back becouse today someone came into my work area right after his smoke break. Well his breath was horifying. After he left I asked If I smelled that bad when I smoked. Both the women I work with said that yes I always smelled that bad. I always knew that you could smell a smoker but never realized how truly noxious it is untill now! The chance of getting lung cancer never realy bothered me but knowing how bad I smelled scared the crap out of me.Lol. I now know ciggs are gone forever!

Ya right? I know what you mean. I dont really trust vaping 100% but, ill take whatever unkown risks come with it over smelling like that again. I can smell even one cig on anyone who smokes now.

Im gonna be honest with you. I have always been into trash broads... strippers, waffle house waitresses, lady rodeo clowns, lady construction workers, lady pirates... you know the type.

I cant kiss a lady that smokes cigarettes now. Now I have to date real classy ladies. I hate it! But its the cross I have to bear...

Totally kidding... kinda... LOL!

I'm reminded of the how I used to smell every time I visit my parents. My mom used to smoke in the house until my sister had my niece. (my sister lives at home with my parents because she lost her job) Now a few months after she stopped smoking in the house, when I get back from the visit, my clothes and pillow stink of cigarette smoke. I have to wash my pillowcase because I can't sleep because of the smell. I feel kinda like a snob because I used to live with the smell for over 20 years and never noticed it. Now it makes me nauseous.

There are times at work where I literally have to take two to three steps back from someone across the counter. It can be overwhelmingly nauseating. But I cannot judge any further than that, because I, too, stunk. Bad.

Oh gosh, people smell so bad now too. I'm not just talking about smokers. I'm talking about BO. You get a lot of strange people coming to the pharmacy and now I can smell them too. 8-o

I always thought I covered it up really well. Closet smoker. Wore a hat and had a special jacket. I cringe about that now because I now know that there was NO covering it up all the way. I try to be very careful about not being judgmental as I swallow down a gag when near to somebody who just smoked a cigarette, after all...I'm sure I made people have the same reaction and I didn't mean to do that to them!

The strongest reaction I have had was very recent and it wasn't just sensory, it was emotional. I work in a hospital and evaluating a patient who wasn't long for the world...a life-long smoker who's O2 saturations kept plummeting down to about 65%...her brain was starving for air and she was confused. It was just so sad. Her son and daughter in law came in while I was in the room and the smell of them hit me like a brick. To see the son sobbing because he was losing his mother and unable to control his addiction...my compassion for him was immensely powerful. My own mother is dying of cancer and I thought I would be just like him...still smoking when she passed.
