Ha, I was asked about yesterday also. I told them it has been known for a long time.FUD news cycle.
Replacement of buttery/custardy tones with diacetyl-free variants was being worked by DIYers and eliquid suppliers back in 2010/2011.
Multiple suppliers officially came out with diacetyl-free formulations. Kudos to them
Some suppliers dropped eliquids, because they weren't content with the substitutes they could find for a particular mix. Kudos to them
Some suppliers supposedly stuck their heads in the sand, kept on using some flavors with the not-so-good flavorings. I have no idea if that still holds true in 2015 -- I've been strictly DIY for years.
It is always fair for a vaper to ask an eliquid supplier if they use any flavors with diacetyl or diketones (the broader category of iffy chemicals). If a supplier says they don't know, and won't check, I personally wouldn't use them. If they said a given eliquid does have them, I'd shy away from it unless it is something I vape very sparingly (again, personal choice).
Half hearted post. I have not been able to give this thread the attention it deserves along with everyone in here. I did bring donuts though.....

Put cancer in e-cigarettes, say non-smokers
NON-SMOKERS would prefer electronic cigarettes to be fatal, it has emerged.
Smoking abstainers are calling for e-cigarettes to contain deadly and debilitating chemicals to allow them to continue feeling smug.
Non-smoker Tom Logan said: “My neighbour has a much better job than me and a far more attractive girlfriend, but as he’s a smoker I could always take comfort in the thought of him dying an agonising death.
“Recently however he started using e-cigarettes, so now he probably won’t have a leg amputated or get lung cancer.
“His clothes don’t stink, I never see him shivering out in the garden and if anything he’s smoking more.
“I definitely think they should put cancer in e-cigarettes. That or something worse, like bubonic plague or toxic waste that makes you turn into a monster.”
Office manager Donna Sheridan agreed: “Now that all my smoker mates are using supposedly harmless e-fags, I’ve had to start hanging around {Other Stuff} houses to feel better than others.
“But I keep getting my purse stolen and if you’re not interested in {Other Stuff} they really don’t have much else to talk about.”
Former smoker Stephen Malley said: “I don’t know what’s better about e-cigs – not getting cancer or annoying non-smokers by not getting cancer.
“I just hope there isn’t some dangerous side-effect that the manufacturers have kept secret. But I’m sure people who sell nicotine products would never do that.”

Resident vape expert. Guilty as charged. Unfortunately.Apparently, the study was just published by Harvard yesterday. I guess some people think this is all new news and want to go and find the first vaper they know to spout off how bad it is to vape. You must be that guy at work
