Good evening everyone! I'm just coming out from under my rock to find some dinner! Lol How's everyone doing?
Any insurance specialists here? I am getting a VERY large whiff of Eau de Shtako...
Currently going over my Workers Comp premium audit with Travelers. I have a customer who requires full waiver of subrogation, whereupon my ins. co. understandably charges a 5% premium on payroll on those jobs. I get it.
HOWEVER, Payroll for that customer, and ALL customers, includes a VERY large amount of travel time and per diem expense, which shows up as payroll. First, the waiver of subrogation is only a potential liability when they are actually on the JOB site.
Also, when my employees are riding in vehicles, they are covered under the AUTO policy, non? Why am I paying Workers Comp for passenger pay (it's a per mile amount), when if the employee is injured, I assume it is the AUTO company that has to pick that up? And per diem?! Where is the Work Comp liability in per diem? There is none. Mang, I think I am paying for a LOT of work comp coverage that I am NOT getting....
