You brought up points I always think of, when I see articles like this.
The VERY first thing I thought of was, has there been ONE Vaper who has been
diagnosed with this?

also, those people in those factories were breathing HEAVY amounts of that
stuff, for OVER 8 hours a day... Was it in a VAPOR form, or particulates?
They seem to want to link Popcorn Lung with vaping, BUT... they don't seem to explain
HOW vaping is the same kind of conditions as people working in a factory for 8 hours a day.
and what concentration of diacetyl was in the air, at ALL times?
We just don't have actual info that is reliable on this except ONE thing...
I have NOT heard of ONE vapor becoming gravely ill due to these flavors, still the fact is,
ONCE vaping came onto the market they should have started testing this at least 5 years ago..
then we would at least have some info. Instead, they just keep coming after us with fear mongering...
I is REALLY ridiculous.

NOT just popcorn. Obliterative Bronchiolitis in Workers in a Coffee-Processing Facility — Texas, 2008–2012

That cigarettes contain diacetyl and no smokers have been diagnosed with Bronchitis Obliterans is a red herring. Cigarettes contain FAR more tar. Smokers have a high incidence of COPD in the forms of Chronic Bronchitis and Emphysema. In order to FIND Bronchitis Obliterans, a doctor must take a lung biopsy. It just hasn't been done. There has not been a need considered in the cases of smokers. It is obvious why they are suffering from lung function disorders. Whether or not B.O. is CONTRIBUTING to their impaired lung function isn't really important to those treating them.

Exposure? Think about our own exposure.. We vape far more than 8 lousy hours a day, and in quantities that SATURATE the air we take into our lungs. Were these workers breathing in thick, visible concentrations? Enough that when they breathed OUT, it was still thick, and just their EXHALES hung in the air? I don't think so.

All of this MIGHT make sense arguing about, if vaping was totally dependent on the presence of Diketones. It is not. There are PLENTY of juices, excellent tasting juices, that have none. So let those who care just vape those? Great.. How can individuals readily know which do and which do not.

Red Dye #2 was thought to be possibly causing cancer. It was banned. Mars even went so far as to stop making red M&M's, despite the fact that they NEVER contained Red Dye #2. It was simply a matter of there being no point in confusing consumers. And the reason for the ban, of course, was that it JUST wasn't a NECESSARY ingredient. It blows me away that people can't see that. There is a LOT of very strong evidence that inhaling Diacetyl can cause a very rare, debilitating and UNTREATABLE disease. The people breathing it were NOT exhaling sufficient quantities to quickly fill a room or car with vapor, and they sure weren't doing it for 16-18 hours A DAY, 7 days a WEEK! Vaping is 8 years old, and almost 7 of them were TOOTLE PUFFING. Now, we inhale MASSIVE amounts. Yes, MOST of the vapor is Pg/Vg, but in the case of Five Pawns, there was more diketones in the the juice, THAN NICOTINE! Do we have to wait for body bags to take precautions?

You are for Harm reduction, but don't think it is necessary to at least TRY to eliminate harm completely? Great. Smoke LESS cigarettes. What? How is that different than willingly inhaling a substance that doesn't NEED to be there, and has a much stronger indication of potential harm than MANY things we have banned from consumer products?

I'm not arguing your points but thought a little perspective might be in order ...

How The Media Totally Exaggerated Study On Risk Of ‘Popcorn Lung’ From E-Cigarettes

The Rest of the Story: Tobacco News Analysis and Commentary: New Study Finds that Average Diacetyl Exposure from Vaping is 750 Times Lower than from Smoking

I don't think it's a bad idea to avoid diacetyl but I also don't think the risk is nearly as great as what they are trying to imply. :)
