I lost my dad to cancer 13 years ago this coming February, and lost my mom 8 years ago last month. He had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and by the time they detected it, it had already spread. Because of his age, chemo and radiation was out. While his diagnosis was 12-18 months, he hung on for 4 years although the last 4 or 5 months he was bedridden and he wasn't very coherent. My mom fell and hit her head and never fully recovered. We think she basically lost the will to fight and was ready to go and she died two months after her accident.
