Wow Vaping Doesnt Set Off Smoke Detector

So here I am at wrk and I have been doing this for a while.
When I go into the restroom, which is a single restroom.
I usually take a vape, big heavy steady vapes.
You know how something is always there but u never pay any attention til
one day u do.
Well upon exit I look up and see a smoke detector connected right to
our alarm system. my reaction was oooooooh. But I have never
set the thing off vaping. I think its been mentioned before.
But for those wondering vape doesn't set of smoke detectors.
Believe me this a top of the line smoke detector......

We set the smoke detectors off within the first hour at the motel were the Mile High Vaper's festival was held on Memorial weekend. We set em off numerous times. But that was a lot of vape. The Denver fire depot was none too happy after the first few times.

There are actually at least 2 types of smoke detectors. I forget the difference in what they measure and am too tired to google it at the moment

Most types it won't set off but there are some that, if I remember correctly, measure the light transmission through the air. This type it will set off.

I just don't want people blowing clouds at a smoke detector and being surprised when they set off the system

Yep set mine off many times, Not to much of a problem except mine are hooked to the security system so I have to call in false alarms. I disable it in the system during the day while I'm home. Vapor in many cases wont make it to the detectors because its dense full of moisture and falls unlike smoke that rise,. But fill up a room chock full of vapor and there's a good chance I vape till the TV's a blurrrrrr

Hmmm.... I need to be more careful of my bathroom "activities". That's usually where I sneak a puff or two when I'm in a store or mall while waiting for my wife to get done shopping. Glad I haven't set one off, but I'm not blowing huge clouds. Try blowing against a wall or stall so that it dissipates along the surface.

It set off one on the boat I work on. I was sitting directly under it and vaping heavily. It only did it once, now, I do as suggested and blow it into a wall.

The 2 types are ionic and photoelectric
Ionic will go off with lots of vapor, shower steam can set them off.
Photoelectric detects heat variations and thick smoke. Alot less likely to go off from vapor.

I work at a central station monitoring residential and commercial fire alarm systems. If you've got the Ionic type mentioned, you can most assuredly set them off if you vape enough or too close to it.

Well I am glad I started this topic then. There is a vent in the restroom
that I blow into also . I don't blow huge clouts when I vape.
So now I know to be aware. Thanks

Ionic detectors use Am241, you can set them off easy. Alpha particle are easy to stop. Also don't confuse smote detectors with heat detectors.

So, the question for me is whether or not blowing/dissipating along a wall would help to NOT set off ionic detectors (as long as you don't sit there vaping like a maniac for twenty minutes). Guess I could always work on my stealth-vape technique...

And I would add to that don't blow vapor towards any smoke detector.
You never know what kind it is.

Just blow down towards your feet.
