You may have missed my point, and I didn't mean to offend anyone. Don't take it personal please.

The point I was trying to make is that a lot of stuff we think we need could very well be just a compensation for the lack of WTA some of us feel. The chain vaping, high voltage vaping, etc, would certainly fall into that category. A good deal of that appears to be chasing the illusive dragon we can never quite catch. How much of this would be needed if we where getting a higher level of satisfaction out of the e-liquid.

I'll make an educated guess and say that for most people a reliable 3.7 volt PV would be plenty. Fact is it already is plenty for the majority of those that don't feel the need for WTA. Once the dragon is slain a good deal of this stuff becomes unimportant.

Not offended at all just wanted to hear your thoughts in more detail.
Nothing more than that so thanks for answering my questions!

I understand that some people have strong feelings about this, but really, people... everyone is not you, and not everyone has the same needs. What possible harm can there be in someone else trying something that might help them get off analogs for good?

Excellent points Orachel!
I also don't get why some people insist on trying to tell you what the "facts" are about a product they haven't even tried and these people continue to spew misinformation about WTA when it's obvious they are not informed in the least.
They pick and choose which "facts" are relevant about this and want to prohibit anyone from trying a product that I have found to be helpful by stating bs which is nothing more than supposition and opinion which they can't even back up.
Frankly some of these vapers remind me of the ANTZ with their "you better not use this because..." scare tactics.
I find that to be hurtful, divisive and unnecessary for vaping community on the whole.
If you don't want to use it Great! Hooray! Whoopee! but do not tell me what is in my best interest or "don't use WTA because the FDA might look at us"!
:glare:
As if they aren't already?

All I can say is if you haven't tried the WTA then you really don't have a clue what your missing. That is if you want just a little more out of vaping. I still like to have a smoke now and then, I'm 41, an adult (ok,thats pushing it) Ethan, the guy that sold me it, saw I still liked to smoke. He said give it a try, might like it but you might not. I still vape normal juice all day but now when I want a cigarette I just grab a little 510 and drip the WTA and that craving goes away quick. It's just a great option to have.

Totally OT, but snus related.

My son has taken to Skoal Wintergreen Long Cut.

What brand/type of snus would be close?

He's a young man, & I'd rather see him using snus...

AG, I can't help you with that since I had a pretty negative view of smokeless until I started checking into snus. Perhaps the smokeless section has some people that have used Skoal Wintergreen. Smokeless tobacco

Don't know for certain, AaronY. I vape my WTA at around 7.22-8.82 watts, I need to try a stronger device to see if I can get a different result. So far, I'm impressed and all of my cigarette cravings have been annihilated.

The absolute most I think this device [1100mAh SLB KGO] can put out is 11.552 at lower charge, 14.112 at a resistance of 1.25 with a fresh battery. It's a bit variable, since it's unregulated, but I find the atomizer to be the absolute best for delivering quality WTA effects and getting the most tastiness from the juice as possible.

I wouldn't doubt you're on to something; different alkaloids do have the possibility to vaporize at different temperatures, and higher wattages may be capable of delivering a more 'robust' WTA hit.

That's not to say that the WTA isn't impressive even in cartomizers, I just seem to prefer my atty's flavor even at cooler temps.

Going to be getting a LR Atty or two and a drip shield within the next couple of weeks, may pick up some H-coils and test those out with the WTA along with some other goodies.:vapor:

The power used, the more liquid is vaporised, so it would be difficult to distinguish more from 'better'.

Although there is the potential for fractional distillation (vaporisation), especially in cartos, it is likely very minimal, particularly regarding the alkaloids (afaik). So I think it would be a case of 'more'.

I don't know a thing about vaping on anything other than 510 or Ego batts, but because of this thread - specifically the posts of AaronY - last week I had a long talk with Ethan (Vapelicious) about some of those 'monster cravings' beginning to resurface. I've surprised myself in successfully avoiding analogs, but I did have a few close calls last week. This week is better, but yesterday was a Beeotch!

I've been vaping for about 2 years, but never found lasting satisfaction to keep me off the analogs...until I bought my Ego-T, and I've finally been analog FREE since September: I really want to stay that way...but it's not as easy as I hoped to break a 32+ year analog addiction.

Ethan seemed super nice and knowledgeable, and I ended up ordering several items from him (due to arrive Friday or Saturday of this week). I'm hoping WTA juice will help me get through those freaky periods (like the one I'm in now) where nic alone doesn't do the job. :(

I ordered:
Oakwood Tobacco 18mg - xtra high wta
Honey Flue Cured Tobacco 18mg - xtra high wta
Maui Blend 18mg - xtra high wta (thanks AaronY)
Bourbon Tobacco 18mg - xtra high wta
'Something with Licorice' (customized mystery juice ) 18mg - xtra high wta
Menthol Drops

I may have gone for overkill with the xtra high wta, but I figure I can dilute it if necessary. On the otherhand, if it's not enough, and y'all decide higher voltage is in order, I can go that route...I guess.

Anyway, I'm enjoying this thread, looking forward to trying my new juice ASAP, and hoping it will give me whatever I'm needing to successfully continue only vaping.

{{{fingers crossed}}}

Thanks for all the great info!

I think you'll like your selections. The Oakwood is good; well-rounded and tasty, expansive in flavor and has a smooth, oaky finish.

I plan on ordering some of the Maui next time, along with several other blends.

I just snagged a couple of blends that Ethan was offering after vapercon:

Raspberry Lemon 24mg /X-High WTA

Blueberry Coffee 24mg /X-High WTA

I have to say, I haven't had a bad blend from Ethan yet.

These are a little bit higher than my usuals, I find that 18mg works just fine with X-high WTA in most instances, but I'm vaping less. Going to test this further and see if 24mg is what I'm looking for in a blend.

The raspberry lemon has a familiar taste to me, like something I'd get off the ice-cream truck when I was a kid. Very tasty, but balanced. Not too lemony, not too much raspberry, and not too sweet. This one is quite addictive in taste and has a good throat hit.

The blueberry, I'll let steep and taste within the next few days. Maybe I'll have to break it out and have some with my morning coffee.... who am I kidding, I'm drinking coffee now!

Hi Brobd...,
That raspberry lemon is certainly grabbing my attention! I normally vape 24mg, but 18mg with WTA seems to be about right 4me.

I tackled the mailman today and got my juice from Vapelicious, so I've been trying the Oakwood this evening. Like you wrote, it's good, which is surprising to me, because I'm not usually a fan of tobacco flavors. THIS vape tasted very familiar somehow, but the WTA blew my mind! That has to be what I've been missing in 'nic only' juice for the last 2 years.

The last couple of weeks have been stressful in a number of ways, and that analog craving has been knocking on my door, but so far, I've successfully 'chain vaped' my way through each episode.

Since I began testing the WTA juice this evening, I'm amazed at how comfortable I feel. That analog craving seems to have vanished, and most of all (as you wrote) I'm vaping LESS than usual; enjoying my 'nic only' juices more for flavor than anything else. We'll see if this trend continues, but I'm feeling very optimistic for the coming week.

I'm not a reviewer at all, but Ethan has a place on his website where he's asking people to share their WTA experience, so I posted my 1st day experience. Rather than reposting it here, if you're interested, you can read my comments at the following link:

Not sure which flav I'll try next...decisions decisions. I feel like a kid in a candy store!

Do you think steeping is important for these juices???

Hi Brobd...,

It's intriguing- I don't know whether I want to vape it or make popsicles/slushees out of it [not recommended]. I definitely love the taste out of my atomizer, though the vapor is a bit cooler at 2.6 it tastes fresh with every succession of dripping.

I usually vape 18mg as well, so usually I fall back on my 18mg 60/40 oakwood w/ x-high wta when I'm needing a good tobacco flavor.

I think Ethan does quite a complex blend for his flavors, and that's where the mystery comes in for Oakwood. I've been vaping much less time, but immediately noticed something missing from vaping that was causing me to look at cigarettes. If I hadn't come across this thread and AaronY's reviews, I would have had difficulty avoiding that next analog.

The last couple of weeks have been stressful in a number of ways, and that analog craving has been knocking on my door, but so far, I've successfully 'chain vaped' my way through each episode.
I understand what you mean, but with the few other blends from other vendors I tried, it felt like I was just puffing on flavored air until I got a nicotine headache. I have not noticed any tendency to do this at all with Ethan's blends.

This is something I've noticed as well, it's like my desire to chain vape is gradually declining further and further, and that's even when I vape the 18mg I've placed into carto's.

I haven't really interchanged between WTA and non-wta blends, but that's probably because I just had a limited amount of non-wta blends to begin with.

I'll check it out; I'm not a reviewer per se, but I will wholeheartedly give my approval and share my experience with something when I think it's a step above the rest or unique. This, I believe, fits the bill entirely. Not to mention on the first night I had WTA, I proudly proclaimed "Cigarettes are obsolete" and actually meant it.

What's more confusing is that I wasn't speaking to anyone at the time, I just felt it needed to be said... maybe that was the feeling of the chains of analog addiction falling off? I'm not certain, but I felt pretty good about not having to think about having an analog from that point forward.
I blame the Oakwood. :toast:

Not sure which flav I'll try next...decisions decisions. I feel like a kid in a candy store!

Do you think steeping is important for these juices???

That's more difficult. I seem to prefer the tobacco blends for everyday use and dessert blends in the morning and late evening.

Steeping may not be super-important, but I've noticed the character of the juices I have steeping is shifting to be even more complex and defined.

I'm curious to see how the raspberry lemon develops.

The Pear seems to taste better when steeped from what Ethan tells me [I have a 90% full bottle of Pear steeping at the moment], but it can't hurt to try steeping other blends and seeing how they develop.

I'd surmise any blend could benefit from steeping, but that's just my logical assumption based on what I know about steeping in general and my limited experience with it.

My 'NTT [Next To Try] List':

English Pipe [as I used to be partial to Black & Milds on weekends]
Maui Blend [because this just sounds intriguing, honestly]
RY4 [haven't decided which, probably the more tobacco-like blend based on what I seem to enjoy]
& several others, which I still am deciding and debating on.

The Maui Blend is, well, vapelicious! It's really tasty by itself and if you like a tobacco flavor, you may like a mix. I usually will fill a 1ml tank with 2/3 Maui and the rest with tobacco. That works for me but each of us is different.

I too am following this thread to see how the WTA works for some of you. I got mine initially to see if it would satisfy what was missing in traditional nicquid. Unfortunately, I can't seem to give up my Swedish snus long enough to find out. I'm going to have to rely on the comments here to find out.

I use the equivalent of about four cigarettes of tobacco via snus or dry snuff and a third of a ml of WTA a day to replace 2-3 packs of cigarettes and I'm happy. No reason to change a good mix.

Great write up; and good to hear another positive experience for WTA.

A thought about the role of WTA :

On the one hand, some people may have been more in need of those other alkaloids - the 'relaxing' ones as opposed to the more stimulating effect of just nicotine (an over-simplification for sure, but of some descriptive merit).

But besides that is, I think, the synergy of the two, which in one way creates a bigger 'hit' - that is, a faster effect; and I see this as the satiation effect (one efect of MAOIs is to amplify and extend the increased levels of neurotransmitters such as dopamine). So there could be people for whom the MAOIs are not needed so much for their own effects (anti-anxiety/calming) but for the boost and satiation that they provide when taken together - particularly in the vaping scenario where absorption is slower (in a way it is not the actual levels of neurotransmitters that are key, but the rate of change). The experience depends on a noticeable change; if the change is too slow is just has little effect.

It's interesting to ponder that the importance of the other alkaloids might be mainly through their ability to amplify / speed up the nicotine effect; that the problem with NRTs such as the patch, and even traditional e-liquid, is not after all so much that nicotine is not the key, but the importance of rate of change was overlooked. That is, the body reacts to changes more than to absolute levels. Change something too slowly and it goes unnoticed (like the boiling frogs).

That we call some of the other alkaloids MAOIs for their amplifying effect though they have other effects too, but just maybe this attribute of the other alkaloids is the major one.

Individual variability means that the need sfor that boost would vary and this may be more the difference between people than a need for nicotine vs the other alkaloids; some people may naturally react more to less rate of change Just a thought.

In other words, that some of the minor alkaloids are MAOIs is their important attribute / role - and that rate of change is the key.

---

MAOIs - Monoamine oxidase inhibitors - slow the destruction of increased levels of dopamine, serotonin and other monoamine 'feel good / alert 'neurotransmitters by inhibiting the oxidase enzyme that performs that role. Hence they both enable a faster rise in the neurotransmitter levels and extend the period of the elevated levels. The fast onset of increase I postulate as important for the reward mechanism involved - the association of cause and effect - and the experience of satiation.

+++

Even if this is most important, it is likely not the whole story; those other alkaloids might do something else.

That's funny! I had a similar EUREKA moment. After about 3 minutes into my 'test', I heard myself shout "DAMN!!!"

I didn't know exactly what my mouth was talking about, but as my brain and body began to SMILE, I realized THIS is what I was searching for.

Steeping may not be super-important, but I've noticed the character of the juices I have steeping is shifting to be even more complex and defined.
Thanks for that input.

I posed the question of steeping to Ethan, and he responded that "fresh juice" will benefit by steeping for a week or more. OK, maybe I'll steep it a bit, but I'm very pleased with the taste straight out of the mailbox!

I really appreciate your comments, as well as the continued discussion from everyone else in this thread.
