Here are my first impressions of the X8 carto tank bought from fasttech.

$6.23 Authentic X8 2.5ml Electronic Cigarette Atomizer at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I was impressed by the look and feel of this tank as soon as I opened the packaging, it feels solid and well built and it has some weight to it.

In the description it was described as stainless steel, but it looks as if it's chrome plated to me (fasttech describe anything shiny as stainless steel) the tank is plastic but it looks and feels like glass and seems to be sturdy and a decent thickness.

It comes with two knurled screws, one for the fill hole on top, and one for locking the carto in place on the side, they are small and a bit fiddly but they do exactly what they are supposed to, the side screw does stick out a bit, but I have not found that to be a problem, it stops your PV from rolling off the table so it's less likely to roll onto the floor.

It comes with a nice metal drip tip (chrome?) which is a perfect fit in my Boge carto, because of the position of the filling screw you cannot fit wider drip tips such as ming drip tips to it.

The top filling hole is small, so you will need a needle top bottle or syringe to fill it up.

The included carto is said to be useless in the reviews I have seen, so I set mine up with a Boge carto instead, and I have put the included carto into my spare parts tin, it is designed for a standard sized carto, it holds around 2.5ml of liquid so it is a reasonable size.

Setting this up is a breeze, the carto slid in without having to apply too much pressure and the side locking screw holds it firmly in place, once you have primed the carto you fill the tank via the small hole in the top, if you don't have a needle top bottle or syringe you can fill it like other tanks by sliding the carto down and filling it through the gap, despite the carto sliding in fairly easy the seals seem to be good and I have not seen any leaks so far.

The carto is performing exactly as expected in this tank with no flooding or wicking issues, I am getting the usual amount of vapour and flavour from it.

I have put it on top of my SVD and it looks great, it matches the width of the SVD exactly and sits flush mounted on the top ring, if you have flanged cartos it will not sit flush mounted as there is no depression in the bottom cap to accommodate the flange, so flangeless cartos are best for this tank.

If I could make any improvements to this tank it would be to make the filling hole a bit bigger and replace the plastic tank with a glass one.

I am very pleased with this tank so far and will be ordering some more soon.

REVIEW UPDATE:-

The fill hole is definitely too small, even with a needle tip bottle it still won't let the air out, I have got round that by sliding the tank up so that there is a tiny bit of light showing between the top of the carto and the top cap (just enough to let the air out,) then you can fill it right up to the top through the fill hole whilst holding the tank upright, slide the carto back in before you replace the fill hole screw, or if you have got one of those filling widgets, you can use that to fill it instead.

Otherwise this is an excellent tank, especially for the price of it, and getting the tank filled up to the top is easy using the method described above or with a widget, I still have had no leaks or flooding with it, so the above recommendation still stands.

I also ordered an X8 tank a few weeks back. I just placed an order for several more. I don't love it as much as some of my higher end tanks, but then again it is like 1/10th of the price. For what you pay, it can't be beat. I do wish that the tank was Pyrex or some type of glass. The X8 is a great, looking little carto tank for a great price.

--Even without the side screw in, the carto will stay put just fine. As long as you are not putting it in an "extreme" situation it should be fine. Some people may not care about the side screw, but I think that it has a cleaner look on some mods without it.

The new X8s come with only ONE screw. Its even on Kamry's website and many online descriptions.

each atomizer we sell comes with only one screw, as you can put the screw on the 2 place, that means the screw can fit both the hole on the side and on the bottom.

I found the supplied carto to be lack luster at best BUT using a flanged XL 45mm carto it becomes a much nicer tank IMO. You no longer need the extra screw to secure the carto. You can hold the slightly longer carto to tighten it to your PV. The tank can not slide down too far either because of the flange on a DCT 510 type carto.

There is one huge DONT with this tank, DO NOT take a dry pull with the filler screw out or too loose. If you do, it will flood the carto instantly if you have juice in the tank.. I got mine for $10 with 2 cartos and a filler bottle. That is certainly not a bad deal for a near glass quality tank. It sure feels like glass to me.

I bought an x8 at a local b&m.It was my first carto tank, and I love it.Burned out the carto that came with it within a couple of days, then replaced that with a slotted xl cart and it works great.I fell in love with carto tanks because of the x8,and went and bought a DCT,which sucks.I will definitely buy another x8,and some boge standard slotted cartos for it.
