XC-116, untreated...how can I use this? (Treat it? )

I managed to get some XC116 sleeving. It is untreated. I didn't realize how unsafe it was to use untreated.

Since I don't have a kiln, or access to a kiln, is there a way I can use this?

Any suggestions?

Without kiln-treating it per 3M specs, there's not much you can do.... I use XC-116 pretty much daily. I would NOT attempt to torch or clean the untreated wick myself for vaping.

Perhaps you could contact rba Supplies or another vendor who has a kiln to work out a deal, and get what you have properly treated.

Looks like I'm dead in the water with it...kind of bummed out.

Talked to a place that fires ceramics but he wanted as much as the wick costs to fire it for me. By the time I do that I could have bought it treated.

I wasn't trying to cut corners, I just didn't know it was dangerous to use untreated....I should have done more research before just pulling the trigger.

Impulse buying, it's my weakness my wife always wants to kill me, if she reads this thread she'll tell me to use it and really KILL me

I can't find it now, but I read somewhere that I could torch the crap out of it to "treat" it, but that's obviously wrong, and now I can't even find that article, thread or wherever I read it!

The difficult part is that you have to do it at a sustained temperature for quite a while. Any attempt without a kiln or similar might succeed at partially treating it but it would be all but impossible to fully clean it, and thats bad business in a wick.

you should maybe look at art schools or something, they sometimes have that kinda stuff and do it way cheaper than a professional potter would do it for

RBA Supplies is the best place other than that don't use it. They say it's really bad for you if not treated and when it's cut will fray like crap. I have been using it in a rda for at least a month + still good.
