I have some 28G SS 316L Wire. Dual Coil build at 0.5 Ohm.

I have all TC Modes activated but I dont know the proper coefficient for SS wire. I can get it to fire in SS mode but it does not fire for long without temp protected coming up and I notice that I burnt a few coils the last time I attempted to use it.

Really wanting to find out what all the buzz is about regarding TC.... please if you have a coefficient value and temp setting that works well for you with SS wire would really appreciate you sharing

Thanks

From what I've been able to find, 0.00094 to 0.00105 is the coefficient for SS. Right now, I'm running an XCube 2 with a UWell Crown (their stock coils are 316L SS) I haven't set the temp over 500F, but I'm getting favorable results between 440 - 500F. Also, if the XCube kicks you out of temp mode while vaping, manually set the resistance of your coil in the settings menu. I'm getting ready to buy a spool of 316L to try it out in some of my rebuildables.

Thanks Rizzy and Ghetto. I will try setting the resistance of the coil manually Ghetto. Thank you for that tip and also the proper TCR Values.

Think Ill try to pick up some 430 Grade SS also like Rizzy is getting cause honestly all these different types of SS wire you wont know what you like until you actually try everything. For example I also have some 304 SS wire that I ordered just for comparison, in many different gauges.

The only place I've been able to find 430 SS is Unkamen Supplies although I had to fill out a custom order form. I requested some round wire 430 SS in 22 and 24G. I think he has on his store 28G Square 430, hopefully he can do my custom order, have heard nothing but rave reviews about Unkamen. I asked him for some small quantities since I havent decided on a grade or gauge of SS yet so hopefully we can work out a deal soon.

Just a question. I have experienced the mod kicking me out of TC mode (it changes to Wattage Mode). I havent tried setting the resistance manually as ghettobanana suggested, but do you know what is the reason the mod does this in the first place? I also have the VTC Mini (upgraded to v2.0 to support SS on TC), but as far as I remember, I never experienced this.

Another weird thing with the X Cube 2, using the TFV4 RBA, I get dry hits during long drag, but with the X Cube Mini, I never had dryhits using the same settings (it could be the strength though as these two mods have maximum wattage capabilities - 180w for the X Cube and 75w for the X Cube Mini)

I'm just starting to use tc on my cube, Im using the default coefficient for the ti im using, and I vape right through the temp protected, it doesn't seem to miss a beat. The temp climbs to what I've set it at, and hits temp protected for a second, then drops back in. Watching the colts and power on my phone, using the Bluetooth, it keeps putting power to the coils, I think it's just letting you know it's not going over the max temp. Maybe in mistaken. Either way, it's a good vape in my aromamizer, dual 28 ga ti, 10 spaced wraps, vertical. Have yet to try ss, but thought this still applies to the x cube tc thread, even though I'm on ti wire. Btw reset the coeffient option is only through the Bluetooth on your phone.

John, the TCR adjust is available in the mod's menus as well.
And you're right about the "temp protect" display, in my experience at least. Most of mine spend time bouncing off of temp protect, but they're still hitting. You can feel it.

Note to anyone playing with the manual "initial Ohms" adjust... it's intended for swapping in a warm atty when you know the true room temp starting res. Adjusting it otherwise will throw off TC. It's fine for bumping a couple of hundredths with an anemic atty, usually just a harder, slightly hotter vape, but take care otherwise.

And here's a list of SS TCRs I picked up somewhere, for anyone interested. Corrections welcome...

304 TCR in vaping range 1016×10-6
316 TCR in vaping range 880×10-6
316L TCR in vaping range 879×10-6
317L TCR in vaping range 940×10-6
430 TCR in vaping range 1380×10-6

Thanks for the info. I've had the xcube 2 for a while but just today tried out tc. I have to say it's enjoyable so far. I only had 28 ga ti and the vape isn't as warm as Im used to, and prefer, but flavor and vapor production is definitely as good as any build I've done. The 28 ga ti isn't the easiest to wrap... Luckily my coils are vaping way better than they look.

Sweet I got 100 ft of 28G 430 SS and 20 ft of 22G.... Im also in the process of converting one of my dual atties to a single coil so I can use the 22G without having to mount some monster coils. What resistance are you using and temperature for your 430 SS coils? I noticed this wire(the 28G anyway)was springy as hell. Maybe need to get a butane ligher and torch it before wrapping.

Steam-engine says the TCR for 316L is .000879.

The guy who runs SE doesn't provide sources for his info, but he seems to be pretty well versed.
