NOR - Expect that at least half of the "PM's" deleted prior to the migration would actually return as "Conversations" that continue to stay via the "White Screen Box" . . . Worse were those "PM's" that were in the "Sent" Folder . . .

NOW - Just As An FYI and Possible Work Around:

Well that was until I was able to put a "Prefix" on them . . . Once done, I could leave the "Conversation" - and it seems that they are now permanently gone too . . .

BTW: For those who still want to save those old "PM's" for future reference at a later date without having to go through the whole list of "Conversations" every time . . . If "You" put a "Prefix" on them, especially a group that has the same "Topic" within (ex: "ECF Friends Info"; "Battery Info"; "e-liquid Recommendations", etc.) - Ya' can actually "Filter" them as a group and they are now "Saved" under the "Filtered Tab" grouped together under the same colored "Prefix" for easier access . . . Better Yet - The "Conversations" are NO LONGER LISTED in "Your" "Inbox" . . . :w00t:

Hope this information is helpful . . . :D

YEP - And I use to explain why, even had a "Blog" entry to point people to - however prior to the migration I deleted any and all "Blogs" (even those with a lot of informative "Stuff" ) given personal reasons and how much easier it is now for some people to use" "My" Wordage on their "Social Media" as their own that I use to share here and that was only meant for ECF Members . . . :censored:

I wonder if you may have missed something here... I was able to delete certain conversations but only if they showed a participant. I attempted putting a prefix on as you described and even placed it in the filtered area but was still unable to delete conversations ( PM's ) without participants listed on them.

The following pic should explain it better...

On PM's that list only my username and a date but no participant ( red arrow )... I'm unable to delete. On any PM that lists a participant ( blue arrow ), I am able to delete without even needing to place a prefix or move them to the filtered area.

You do realise that anyone with a remotely modern computing device can copy and paste anything anyone says and put it anywhere, right? It's not unique to ECF, but anyway....

Did you per chance, forget about the sent items folder? ;)

Yep, forgot all about that one. That explains it. Thank you!

So now how do I delete the ones with no participants? If everyone has left the conversation I can't seem to delete them.

And to think I thought I was prepared.. Sent messages, go figure. :(

I believe that is an issue they are still working on getting fixed...

For now, I'm using Uncle's suggestion to place a Prefix on the ones I want to delete later ( called Deleted of all things lol )... and placing them in the Filtered area... all others I'm leaving in the Inbox and making Prefixes for them so I can sort by the prefix if I want. Since new Conversations won't have a Prefix yet... they should be easy to notice.

thanks!! this was the part I missed. The softpedia wants to install a lot of other stuff, but the google one didn't and is in english now. Just didn't notice the buttons.

My memory is like swiss cheese, but there are ones I'm certain I deleted prior to the move, Cuz and I always do both in box and sent (glad we don't have to do that now), and they are back.

Doesn't work for me. I can't delete any regardless of whether or not they list a participant.

Odd... but it is whatever it is... hopefully they will find a solution soon for any and all possible causes of this problem.

Something to double check... make certain the only selected PM is the one you are trying to delete. The reason I mention it is because on one attempt I made I had others selected ( with no participant ) without realizing it until it failed.

NOPE - Didn't miss anything here . . . Especially since I HAD the exact same experience, until I did what I explained in the work around I posted here . . . BTW: Once they have a "Prefix" attached to them I was able to delete all of them as a group, including the original "PM'" I sent . . . Try it - It just might work for "You" too . . . Just Sayin' . . .;)

OH NO - "YOU" HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING "ME" - THEY CAN ! ! !

What a World Wide Web "We" live in now . . .
shaking-head-sad-smiley-emoticon.gif

OH MY . . . Thank You so much for letting an "Old Man" who is such a "Curmudgeon" know . . .
old-person-helped-to-walk-smiley-emoticon.gif

NOW - With all due respect - SIR, especially since the same comment has been made more then once to "Me" by so many others . . . AND - Not really to belabor the point any further, however in all seriousness - it seems NO ONE seems to understand - nor wishes to acknowledge . . . That it really has nothing to do with whether or not someone can and/or will copy and then paste someone else wordage on the Internet as their own . . . It has to do with making it that MUCH EASIER for people to do so through all the direct links to their "Social Media" accounts which is without a doubt "plagiarism" in it purest form . . . Just Sayin' . . .

BTW: For future reference, as someone who has been involved on the Internet and World Wide Web for over 30+ years, using a Dial-up Modem and Windows DOS/v3/v3.11 for accessing many different "Bulletin/Message Boards" (for all those too young to remember they were the "Forums"/"Chat rooms"/"Social Media" of yesteryear ;)) . . . I am very aware of what Today's acceptance for the lack of personal privacy entails and that many people can and do just think it is alright since so much is available now given the upsurgence and accepted "norm" that everyone enjoys belonging too and sharing their very personal/private "Stuff" via FB/Twitter/Google+/etc. . . . More importantly, I am NOT that "Young" - nor too "Old" not to be able to adapt to change/s when and if absolutely necessary . . . I Am A Curmudgeon - Not stupid, nor dense enough to learn something NEW . . . Hey - Even having a "Learning Disability", I went to college for the first time at the age of 40 (25 years after HS) and then Graduated in 4 years with both a Bachelor & Master Degree by the age of 44 . . .
Just Sayin' . . .

Well - I really think that is enough from "Me" and explains what I was specifically mentioning as a personal issue and some other's have also mentioned on ECF - I think as gracefully as I can, it's time too . . .

As I mentioned ( and you quoted it )... I had tried what you suggested... ie add a prefix and then attempt to delete ( leave conversation ).

But note spartonstew's post also... he was unable to even leave a conversation that included a participant ( if he did it properly of course ).... so there appears to be more than one cause of the issue perhaps.

Yeah. It doesn't seem to be consistent. Right after the change over when a couple hundred previously delete messages appeared, I was able to delete *most* of those with participants and none of those without participants. Out of the 41 zombies I have, 2 have participants, 2 are actually "conversations" started fresh after the changeover, and the rest show no participants. The 2 "conversations" that won't go away each had one other participant that left before I tried to leave them.
