I thought someone would of fitted an evolv board by now I mean why waste your life with these junk dna clones!

Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
i have the evolv board sitting here, but because the clone chip works as intended i wasnt in any hurry to swap it. i thought for sure i wouldve gutted it the day after i got it, but so far its working nearly as good as the authentic, including battery life!

@Jonner: what mod is that?
edit: googled it and it seems a DIY mod?

Sorry dru, forgot to respond to this. It is on Shapeways, made by Splendid Mods. It's just the enclosure, so it's DIY, just add chip, battery contacts, buttons, etc...,lol. I might be making my own, but with 18650, and hopefully the all important seatbelt. I'm clumsy, so one knock over on the desk and my tank will be shattered with that Splendid one.

QUESTION: I wonder if someone was to use just Kanthal coils in the 1.4 ohm range, and never put this XvoStick clone into the 'Temp' mode ... do you think there would ever be a problem like you described (going all by itself into the Temp mode from the regular VW mode that I always use)?

You're describing me, Flt. Just as drugarth said, I only use Kanthal (factory) coils, and the second I got (all) my Xvos and Clownstix, I set the Temp to OFF. None of them have inadvertently or randomly switched over to Temp.

And no message of ohms too high, to date.

If your looking for just a wattage mode side by side. I bought this from 3f and used it for a week while I waited for xvosticks to land. Zero issues with it but only 35 watts and no tc. My son in law has been using it daily for about a month with out any issues and it's less than 34 bucks

Thanks Jonner!....I like it...but a DIY mod is not in the cards for me...have enough trouble just getting a coil right :D

YOU do!? OMG, I should have saved the ONE picture of the ONE coil I attempted that ONE time.

Yes, received my clone....and it seems to be working fine.

I will post some comparison picturs, and some differences I found. This is the clone from 3fvape. transit time to europe: 11 days.

First impression: it works fine, no issues with: buttons, scratches, working in watt or temp mode, 510 threading/connection, battery cap threading/sitting flush.

Differences:
- Clone only does Farhenheit in temp mode, original also does Celsius
- Clone has clickier fire button ( I actually like original button better)
- Clone has brighter screen and logo
- In temp mode clone needs to be set to 500F/30W to get about the same vape as original at 430F/30W, this compares to SX mini when it is set at about 350F/25J
- Clone has springloaded 510, original has adjustable 510
- Clone weight 175grams, original is 180grams (incl. battery)
- battery cap clone sits about 1/2mm recessed, original sits flush
- box clone has plain lettering, original has silver lettering and different font
- clone has different screws than original
- up/down button are reversed: clone right is up, original right is down
- after leaving the clone alone for a few minutes the voltage display turn to temperature display. It then shows the "ohm to high" message when firing. Does not seem to affect the vape. The original also switches to temperature, but switches back to voltage after a few seconds and does not show the message.

pics (sorry for some crappy shots): The one on the right is always the clone

I'll use it for a while, and if anything comes up I'll let you know.
So far I am actually pretty impressed...but only had it for about an hour.

EXCELLENT post, Dru. Sorry I missed it yesterday.

I'll be very interested to hear how they compare operationally, as you have the time to use them both.

Kat's been keeping notes too, but we're holding off for a bit longer, particularly since you began with such a fantastic jumping off point. We'd both like to see where yours lands.

And THANKS (for taking the time...)!!!

I ordered one black Clownstick via Fasttech, but Restocking in the moment/~7-10 days to ship. Also open support tickets to clear with clown supplier: #1: The body color is painted or anodized aluminium ?; #2: The material of buttons are stainless steel or aluminium ? I`ll review a.s.a.p. here.
FYI; FT support answered:
"We have checked the item with the suppliers.
1. The material of buttons are stainless steel.
2. The body color is oxidized."

We'll prolly mesh our lil review with yours, if that's ok, dru. :)

Sure thing!
I'll post after a week or two of usage of both the authentic and the clone how they compare operational wise....what I can already tell you is that I like the buttons quite a bit less than the ones on the original...they work fine..but require a bit of extra force to press...which makes just squeezing the mod to fire a tad more difficult.

HA! Welp, you make a persuasive argument, but...

I dun WANNA!!! Next thing ya know you'll be asking me to DIY my vliquid too! OH NO! (mr. bill)

IF that was our only choice, of course I'd have to join the ranks of the wire twisters (and prolly have to make enuf for @DPLongo22 as well). But until then, our little club of blister packin' drop in coilers shall remain in tact. :vapor:

Actually, Ms. Noodle, I do have a this and a that...

(not that I use them tho) ;)

so after a week of use, some things ive noticed:

- theres no formal "atty lock" like the authentic, but when you screw on the atty for the first time, asked if its a new coil and you select yes, it "locks" that res as the base and will never change or refine to a different res. you can mess with res if you arent finding a satisfying vape by hitting fire button for a quick second then screwing and unscrewing the battery cap to get the "new coil" dialog again and say yes. do that as needed to get the res you like.

- if you reset the device, either unscrew the atty or battery door, it asks you if youve installed a new coil. if you select no (down button) it will force itself out of tc, every time ive tried. so selected no on new coil dialog with always take the mod out of tc and do straight vw mode.

- i dropped the mod off my bed onto a hardwood floor, had a tilehamos v2 plus installed. not a scratch on the device, everything remained as perfect as the day i got it. the atty let out a tiny bit of juice from the airhole and onto the 510 connector. this thing is a well protected beast of a mod. cant believe there isnt even a scratch on the finish. amazing.

- battery lasts me about 8ml of e-juice (roughly 2 days of vaping). same as the authentic give or take.

- tc still works as it should.

- i havent used any other mod since i received the clownstick (vsdna200, evolv reference dna200, macro dna40, ipvd2, and a few diy dna40's).

I got my XVO from Focal today. I bought it to use TC only. My 510 threading is perfect and the spring stiff enough. For changing the atomizer I unscrew the old atty, fire once ( check atomizer ), screw in the new atomizer, fire, and confirm "new coil". Then it starts to fire in VW mode for less than a second and switches to TC mode and stays there. The + and - switches are a bit confusing, because there is a delay. When I want to confirm a new coil, I have to hold the + for a felt second - just a short click will not work. When I confirm an old coil with the - switch, it goes to VW mode always. So I have to wait until my atty cools down after a battery change.

As far as I know this version comes from the same manufacturer. The first batch, that was returned by 3F was made by Ivogo, but the build quality was too bad.

I´m not sure, but my battery is going empty right now and the wattage has been reduced about 10W from 25W to 15W - my tank is full and usually the wattage is going down only 1W. A few vapes and I should know more.

TC works in my case. Instead of giving a boost when I start firing, the wattage starts with about 7 W for a few milliseconds. I used it today with Nife70, Nife52 ( lower temperature ) and Ni200 and it does what it should - when the tank was empty also. ;)

For now I like it.

Edit: Now I got a low voltage. I still can fire, but with 8-9W only and the battery has 3.3V
